Principal's Message

In November students prepared for Remembrance Day. Students in Ms. Murray's class wrote poetry and others prepared for the assembly by learning poems and then read them at the assembly. Our grade 3 and 5 classes made poppies which we then "planted" in our front lawn. A journalist from Néomédia noticed our poppies and featured our school in an article. To see the article click here.

We are now preparing for the Holidays. During music class our students are practicing Christmas and Hanukkah songs. This is in preparation for a family sing-along on December 17 from 6:00-7:00pm. It will be in our school yard. We are looking for parents to loan us some firepits and maybe even help decorate our yard with Christmas lights just to add some ambiance! Our Home and School committee will provide the hot chocolate. We hope to see as many of you as possible.

Covid Vaccination Clinic

As you know we will have a Covid vaccination clinic at school on December 15, 2021. Parents who would like their child to be vaccinated at school still have to register on the Clic santé site. Many parents have already informed us that they have scheduled appointments at public clinics being held in the area. We encourage you to do this if you know your child is afraid of getting shots as unfortunately parents can't accompany their child at the school clinic. The clinic at school is completely voluntary and only students whose parents have registered them and given consent will be brought to the gym on December 15th.

Postponement of Hepatitis and HPV Vaccines for grade 4 an 5 Students

Although Public Health have reassured us that there is no contraindication in receiving these vaccines and the Covid vaccine one week apart, we, in conjunction with CISSSMO, have determined it is best to focus on one vaccine at a time. Hence, we have postponed the Hepatitis and HPV vaccine to a later date. Once we receive a date for that clinic we will inform parents of students in grade 4 and 5.

In Focus: Our Integration Aides

This month we would like to highlight the superb work of our integration aides. Everyday they work with the students of Forest Hill Senior to help them achieve their potential both academically and socially. Day in and day out they work tirelessly to ensure that our students are able to participate fully in their classrooms. They create positive and strong relationships with the students they work with, and are always their biggest advocates. This important job requires flexibility, intuition and above all, a desire to make a difference in the life of a child. Our school could simply not run without them. The whole Forest Hill Community comes together to thank them for all that they do!

If you would like to become an Integration Aide please submit your CV to Christine Driver at cdriver@lbpearson.ca.

Big picture

Music

We were able to purchase extra keyboards for our music classes. Our students were busy learning new songs to play. We thank our Home and School committee for funding part of the purchase.

Cerf Volants

Library News

Our librarian Tina Hausen is constantly adding new books to our catalogue. She is in need of volunteers to help cover the books. If you can help please contact Ms. Katharina Hausen khausen@lbpsb.qc.ca. Your help is greatly appreciated.
