REQUESTS FOR CLASS PLACEMENT
Teachers and administrators go to great lengths to build classrooms of students who will work well together as a community of learners. When building these classes, we consider many things (e.g., class size, the numbers of boys and girls, Special Education, Extended Curriculum, English Language Learners, social/emotional needs, special learning needs, and unique academic and behavior issues). Balancing the classes is very important to us and to the success of the students.
Requests for class placement must be put in writing and addressed to Mrs. Klinsky. Requests may also be sent via e-mail to BAKlinsky@d47.org. Please make the request based on specific needs you feel your child has and do not mention a specific classroom teacher’s name. The deadline for class placement requests is April 3, 2020. All requests will be considered, but may not be granted due to the desire to balance the classes.
Mileage Club
Mileage Club Volunteers Needed
The spring session of the Wildcat Mileage Club will be starting just after spring break and we're looking for volunteers! The session will run for seven (7) weeks from March 30 - May 15th. 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will participate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders will participate on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
M/W/F timing is 12 pm - 1:05 pm
Tu/Th timing is 11:20 am - 12:20 pm
For those of you who are new, Mileage Club volunteers help set up and take down the course daily, hand out and collect mileage club tracking cards, scan lap progress (on provided iPads) and most importantly provide encouragement! Trainers/coordinators have already been established for each day of the program. These trainers/coordinators are there to help with the Mileage Club on the given day but also to help explain the program and answer any questions you may have during your shift(s).
We utilize a Sign-Up Genius form to coordinate all volunteer opportunities. The link for the sign up will be shared on our website and West Facebook page next week.

Illinois Assessment of Readiness
Our students take federally required assessments every spring. These assessments help us understand how our students are growing academically compared to their peers across the state. The state uses this information to provide more support and resources to the schools in the greatest need. The English language arts and math assessment for grades 3-8 is called the Illinois Assessment of Readiness.
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness is almost exactly the same this year as the assessment that students took last year, and measures the same Illinois Learning Standards.
Our students will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness between March 11th and April 24th.
