Dr. Hector P. Garcia Middle School Newsletter

April 3-7, 2017

Greetings Gladiator Community,

Last Friday I had an open forum for students to attend and ask questions, share ideas, concerns, suggestions, etc. For the first event, I was impressed with the turn out. The suggestions offered by the students included some of the following: field trip for art students, expanding the campus spelling bee, TTM (Think Through Math), dress code, passing period traffic, and implementing incentives so they could wear shorts.

It is important for students to have a voice regarding their school. I feel fortunate to work at a school where students are willing to express their ideas to make it a better place for kids! This is something I want to have on a regular basis. I've included a picture of the students that attended below.

Here is a link to our upcoming campus events:

It's a GREAT day to be a Gladiator!

Does you child have access to the internet?

If so, then you'll want to attend an important information session for parents on how to keep your child safe on the internet. FBI agents will share tips and strategies to protect children from internet predators.

Your child will be required to show proof of the Tdap (within the last 5 years) and Meningococcal (MCV4 ) on or after their 11th birthday (Note: if student received it at age 10, this will satisfy the requirement) in order to start the 7th grade.
