Students and families that have completed their FAFSA and have received their award letter from their chosen institutions are encouraged to register for an informational webinar provided by Michigan Department of Treasuryβs MI Student Aid team.

- Tools to help students/families make the best financial decision
- Better understand the individual scholarships, grants, and loans offered
- Scholarship search resources and easy to use budgeting tools
- Submit general aid related questions via Q&A and receive real-time answers

π Joyce Ivy College Admissions Symposium is May 20th in Rochester
For high-achieving female high school students + their families
The Joyce Ivy College Admissions Symposium (JCAS) is a spring program for high-achieving female high school students, families, counselors, and educators, led primarily by admissions professionals from some of the nationβs most rigorous and selective colleges. Each interactive session will focus on a different topic related to the college admission and application process (financial aid, writing your college essay, letters of recommendations, making your college list, etc).
The day will include four breakout sessions that are open to female high school students and parents/guardians only. Admissions and financial aid professionals from Harvard, Johns Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, and so many other universities/colleges will be in attendance to lead these sessions!
Light snacks and beverages will be available; lunch will not be served.

On April 18th, admission advisers from hundreds of colleges and universities will be ready and waiting to talk with you at the NACAC College Fair-Metro Detroit! It's a great way to connect with hundreds of colleges in a short amount of time to learn about majors, scholarship, and more!

MI Construction Career Days has been Michiganβs premiere construction career exploration event. Based on the National Career Day model, MICCD provides Michiganβs young people a chance to experience construction up-close, getting the chance to use real tools, materials and heavy equipment under the direct guidance of construction professionals from all sectors of the industry. These young people will not only see what construction is, but learn of the training and education paths to secure the good paying jobs a career in construction provides.

The MAT2 Apprenticeship Program offers a unique combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training that prepares apprentices for high-paying jobs in advanced manufacturing fields like mechatronics and CNC machining. This year, MAT2 network companies are looking for 33 apprentices to start this summer!

- Prospective apprentices will hear from our network companies, including Witzenmann, PCS Company and HELLER Machine Tools about their companies and the apprenticeship experience

π° Scholarship available for BHS students to attend pre-college, career, recreation camps!
Berkley/Huntington Woods Youth Assistance sponsors Camp Scholarships for youth in the Berkley School District who may not be able to afford a camp experience. Our camp committee gives special care in matching kids with camp experiences that best meet their needs. Through camp, youth broaden skills, develop independence and resourcefulness, and enhance positive social interactions in fun, guided settings that promote awareness, self worth and acceptance.
Applications are given out in mid-Winter to school administrators, counselors, social workers, teachers, and directly to parents. With each completed application, parents are asked to submit copies of their most recent tax documents in order to qualify for a scholarship. Parents are able to submit applications for any, or all, of their children as long as each child lives within the Berkley School District boundaries.

High school students from across Metro Detroit explore the intricacies and complexities of the surrounding business world at Oakland University School of Business summer camps. These informative, interactive and educational camps led by expert business faculty offer students the opportunity to get a head start on their business experience and college education.
Each week-long camp offers a different business perspective:
- Entrepreneurship and International Business
8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. | July 17 - 21 - Business Analytics and Decision Making
9 a.m. - 3 p.m. | July 31 - August 4

Inspirit AI is a 25-hour project-based AI program that introduces middle/high school students to fundamental AI concepts to build impactful projects across disciplines such as arts and humanities. This year we are excited to announce new projects such as Chatbots for Education, AI for Disaster-Aid, Hate Speech Prevention, and more. The program is taught by Stanford, MIT mentors and no CS experience is necessary.

JUNIOR LEADERSHIP OAKLAND is the place that encourages and empowers young adults to develop their full potential through three, full-day interactive workshops.
- Create opportunities for students to realize their leadership potential
- Expose students to a wide range of career path support
- Provide access to a network of professionals
- Foster a commitment to community involvement to achieve value for their own organizations.
- Program Dates: June 19-21, 2023
- Application Deadline: May 30, 2023
- Cost: Free
Applicant Requirements
- Eligibility: All High School students are eligible to apply.
- Selection Process: Students will be selected for participation based on personal goals, personal/life experiences (this includes work experiences, community service, faith-based affiliations, etc.), and educational experience.
- Applications will be reviewed by a panel of representatives from Leadership Oakland. Students will be notified by June 3 whether or not they have been selected to participate in the program. There is no application fee or cost for participation on the part of the student.
βοΈ Kettering University's 5-Week STEM Summer Program for 11th graders

About the Program July 5 - August 4, 2023:
This five-week residential program provides students with real college experience. Students enroll in college-level courses to develop functional, quantitative and qualitative skills. Course offerings include: Business Management, Calculus, Chemistry with Lab and Physics with Lab. Students also participate in a career institute which exposes them to a variety of professions in engineering, science, math and business.
The Goals of AIM:
- To prepare students with the self-discipline required to succeed in a challenging college curriculum experience.
- To enable students to recognize their academic strengths and areas which may need improvement.
- To provide students with the tools necessary to matriculate successfully through college.
- To increase the number of under-represented students pursuing degrees in engineering, mathematics, science and business.
Eligibility:
- The AIM program is open to students of color, presently in the 11th grade graduating in the class of 2024.
- Minimum 3.0 grade point average in English, Math and Science courses.
- Students should have taken two years of algebra or the equivalent; one year of geometry; one year of chemistry with lab; and two years of English.
- A completed AIM application, a one-page essay and a high school transcript are all required to be considered for this program.
- Note: Students must commit to the entire five-week experience.
