A few highlights from Beech Grove City Schools . . .

We hope you enjoy this week's edition of the "Hornet Blast." Have a great day, Hornets!

Coaches Vs. Cancer

During both the girls' and boys' basketball games on Friday, January 9, a very special event took place: Coaches Vs. Cancer. To raise money for the Beech Grove Relay for Life Team, there were booths located in the gymnasium lobby where people could purchase food and merchandise. Some of the items included: ribbon tumblers, cake pops and a nacho/cookie/drink combo. In the gym there was a display with photos of those whom have battled cancer who were honored between games. With this display were ribbon posters. High school students had the opportunity to purchase paper ribbons for their class. Members of the sophomore class purchased the most ribbons and were able to throw pies in some of their teachers' faces at half time of the boys game.

Between games, five families were recognized for their battles with cancer. Two of the families are currently battling cancer and were presented with checks to help cover some of their medical costs.

A very special thank you to Matt and Angela English and Amy and John Jennings for their organization and contributions to this special event. In addition, thanks to the teachers who who such good sports for the "pie in the face" portion of the evening! Several photos from the event are pictured below.
