Lexia Usage

I am extremely proud of our Olive Students! We have put a focus on every student meeting the suggested amount of minutes they should be completing on the Lexia program. This amount of minutes is different for every child, based on their level. Many of our older students are already finished with the entire program! Two weeks ago almost every student in the school met their goal. We only had two that were unable to meet their usage goal and only eight last week! I'm so proud of all of their hard work, and I love seeing their growth in reading increased due to the use of the program. Please remember that Lexia is a program they are to do without help. It is an assessment-less assessment, meaning it gives us information weekly about their levels and growth. However, that can be skewed if someone is helping them with the content. So, all you need to do is encourage them to get their minutes finished each week! That's it! They are able to do the rest without any help from anyone.

NWEA Testing

We will be completing our second round of NWEA testing beginning Dec. 4. NWEA is a new assessment used to show student growth in the areas of Reading and Math. It is also a predictor of how well your child will do on the ISTEP assessment mandated by the state. We are looking forward to this second benchmark testing to see how much the students have grown. Please talk to your students about doing their very best, to show us exactly what they know. Please also do your best to have your students here daily until testing is complete. Information about your students' results on this second benchmark will be sent home after the winter break.

Thanks, Olive, for helping to purchase our new lobby furniture!
