Happy Thanksgiving
As we wrap up November, please take a look at the pictures below to see the awesome things that have been happening at Sloan Creek. What is so wonderful about these events, is that students are leading and initiating a lot of these projects. Even small projects like our student council going through lost and found items was such a simple yet powerful example of being leaders and taking ownership over campus needs.
I want to send a special thank you to PTO for organizing the Lovejoy Thankful Letter Campaign and also the amazing bundt cakes. Thank you for always being so thoughtful and thank you to every single parent and student that took time to write letters.
Also, thank you to the Reinhard family for providing amazing lunches for the staff yesterday. It was such a nice treat and the thoughtful gesture meant so much to all of us.
I hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving with friends and family. Thankful does not begin to capture how much I appreciate each of you for partnering with us at Sloan Creek. Your kids bring us so much joy and we are so thankful we get to spend our weekdays with them.

November Safety Tips
1. Learn the school's emergency procedures. Emergency plans and phone numbers are usually included in school handbooks, posted in classrooms or schools’ website. Taking a few extra minutes to familiarize yourself and your child with emergency information can give them the confidence they need to act quickly in emergency situations.
2. Know travel routes to and from the school. Make sure you and your child know both primary and alternate routes. In an emergency, roads can be blocked and it's important to have a backup plan.
3. Know and follow school security and safety measures. These might include signing in when visiting the school, having driver license ready, or wearing a visitor pass. Following these procedures also sets a great example for your kids.
4. Talk with your child about safety. Be specific. Talk about instinct and paying attention to funny feelings of fear. Explain what to do if she doesn't feel safe (find a teacher, School Marshal, etc.). Make sure you child knows how to contact you or a family member who is likely to be at home.
5. Inform school staff about health and emotional concerns. Whether your child has a food allergy, a physical disability, or has been subject to bullying, make sure to keep your child's teachers and principal in the loop.
