Module 1- Due November 22

Module 1: Developing a Coaching Menu & Building Relationships has been released in Teams. Check the assignments area for details. Each module will consist of two parts: a learning module and a mentoring application step. For this module, you will need to identify a mentee to work with from you school and begin to develop your mentoring relationship. In order to stay on pace, you should complete the Nearpod learning module early during the assignment window and schedule time with your mentee before the close of the window. Module 1 is due on November 22nd. The graphic above shows the topics for each learning module and the accompanying mentoring action step.

Carolyn Hutcheson - Ocee ES METI / NELC

Q&A with Carolyn

  1. Strategies you are using to get mentoring and activities done.
    I meet with teachers and/or grade levels to find out what is needed and make suggestions. I also come up with ideas and present them to teachers using standards they are currently working on.
  2. Strategies you are using to remember to log your points.
    Vanguard is a priority of mine and I get so busy that it’s easy to forget to log points. I have two ways that I remember. I note my activities in my calendar and go back and log it onto the platform later. I’ve also found that logging my points within a few days doing the activity works well.
  3. Highlighting anything you have done this year ( special training, helped someone etc)
    I have had a blast mentoring one of our ESOL teachers. It started out with helping her plan the technology component for an ESOL meeting and that evolved into working with SMORE, SeeSaw, and now editing videos. It’s wonderful! Another teacher and I planned a math lesson using base ten blocks and are integrating technology to bring the pictures to life and to give students a voice to explain how and why they solved the problem. Another teacher is studying motion and wanted to give students a visual so we created stop motion videos. I LOVE being a METI.
  4. What is your twitter handle for others to follow?
    @cphtechnoloy
  5. Favorite Tech tool you like to use.
    Flipgrid is great because it gives students a voice and allows them to see different perspectives in an organized way. Pixie is great for creating any type of graphic design and enhances the whole curriculum with their templates.
  6. A mentoring strategy-
    I believe your message can really inspire others and we hope to hear from you! First of all, I love collaborating with teachers. I strive to make teachers feel at ease with me. I often reach out to teachers first with an idea and we plan from there. Much of our conversations are of me listening to determine how I can best help.
