Lincoln School News
September
Message from Mrs. Hawkins
Lincoln Families and Friends,
We have made it through September 2020 and students and staff are doing well. Thank you for your help and support in starting a very unusual school year. The pandemic has presented us with many obstacles, but we have figured out ways to operate in guidance from MDH. Students are managing the face coverings and the social distancing guidelines. Teachers are learning technology tools that are maximizing the ability to collaborate virtually. All students have a device this year for the first time. Kindergarten and first graders have iPads and 2nd through 5th graders have Chromebooks. These devices will stay at school until they are needed at home for Distance Learning. I am including a picture slideshow from September so you can get a glimpse of what the school day is like for your children. I hope you can see the joy and learning that I see when I walk through the school each day. September Highlights

School Funding is on the Ballot
The November election is not just about who will be our next President - also on the ballot are two school funding requests for Owatonna Public Schools (OPS). If voters approve both OPS ballot questions, funds would help maintain quality academic programs and activities for all students, appropriate class sizes and career-technical education opportunities. If voters do not approve both requests, the district will face millions in budget cuts over the next three years, resulting in class size increases, cuts to academics, activities and more. Learn about the two levy requests at our Levy Website
McKinney -Vento Support for Families in Transition
The Mckinney-Vento act supports families and youth that lack a fixed, regular, and appropriate nighttime residence. Additional support is available from the Owatonna Public Schools for these families.
