- Was married to Kocoum before 1612
- Best known for saving John Smith's life
- Later married John Rolfe after being in captivity
- Traveled to England with her son and husband
- Was presented as a Native American princess in England
- Died of pneumonia/tuberculosis on March 21,1617

- The English used this against Powhatan and held Pocahontas captive
- This was during the Anglo- Powhatan war
- Pocahontas was held ransom for English prisoners to be released
Rebecca Rolfe
- While Pocahontas was held captive by the English, she converted to Christianity
- Met her second husband, John Rolfe.
- Changed her name to Rebecca Rolfe
- Had a child with John Rolfe named Thomas Rolfe
The Saving Of John Smith
- John Smith (the captain) and his crew came to Virginia in May 1607
- Smith didn't encounter the Natives until winter 1607
- At his execution, Pocahontas put her head on Smith's to stop them from killing Smith with a club.
- Later, when Chief Powhatan wanted to kill Smith one again, Pocahontas warned Smith.
- Pocahontas and John Smith wouldn't meet again until years later when Pocahontas traveled to England
