Harvard High School
Parent Update
Principal Message
Hello Harvard High School families. I hope this message finds you well. I first want to thank everyone for your continued support and flexibility as we continue to navigate these unprecedented waters. It's amazing to think that the first quarter of the high school will end this Friday. Remember, with our condensed schedule students will be completing their semester-long classes within each quarter. October 26th starts a new quarter and semester-long condensed classes. The feedback from students has been positive regarding taking fewer classes at a time and meeting every day.
As we gear up for the next quarter we are already hard at work planning for the next semester. As you know, we have to plan for multiple options depending on where we are as a county regarding COVID. We are currently working on a hybrid schedule that we will share with all of you when we get closer to the next semester.
We had students in the building for testing these last few weeks for the SAT as well as the Juniors for PSAT. This week Wednesday the freshman will be here taking their PSAT test. The upcoming testing schedule is highlighted later on in this update.
Every Wednesday, our students attend their homeroom at 9 am. During homeroom, we ask students to complete a short google form that addresses their social and emotional needs. We do this every week so that we can stay informed as to what students are feeling, as well as needing during these challenging times. We know that this is not easy for many students and adults and that is why we make it a priority to do this every week. Our students have been very open and honest with their feedback which in turn helps us to find the resources and support they need.
As the leaves continue to fall and the weather gets a little cooler, please know that we are here for you if you need anything. Our guidance office has numerous supports and community resources available to our families. Our Parent Community Liaison, Vanessa Mendoza, has numerous community contacts and resources as well. Please visit the Parent Community Liaison FB Site for more information about future programming. Send emails to vmendoza@cusd50.org or call (please leave a voicemail) at 815.943.6461 ext. 2261.
Please know that we are thinking of you and we hope that you have a positive second quarter. Stay strong, healthy, and safe.
Students can begin to pick up supplies between 8 am - 4 pm at the high school for their 2nd quarter classes.
Start of the 2nd Quarter!!
Friday, November 6th is a Non-Attendance day for students. Students do not have school on the 6th of November.
