• April 10 - Online Registration will OPEN for all returning students

• April 17 - May 5 - Online registration assistance for families will be available at your child(ren)’s school(s) by appointment. More information to come.

• Week of April 24 - A letter will be sent via email to families whose residency can not be verify electronically. The letter will provide details on additional information you will need to provide by August 11, 2023, in order to register your child for the upcoming school year.

• May 1 - If you are providing proof of residency with an affidavit, the Affidavits for 2023-2024 will be available for download from the Gurnee School District 56 website and at each school building.

• June 2 - LAST DAY to submit online registration to receive a $20 discount on school fees for each of your students.

• August 11 - LAST DAY for families to COMPLETE online registration, in order for your child(ren) to start school on the first day of school - August 23, 2023.

• August 11 - LAST DAY for families that received an email requiring you to submit PROOF OF RESIDENCY in order for your child(ren) to start school on the first day of school - August 23, 2023.

All students who will be returning to Gurnee School District 56 for the 2023-2024 school year MUST complete the online registration process beginning April 10, 2023 through August 11, 2023.

To complete the online registration for your student for the 2023-2024 school year, log into your Skyward Family Access.

Residency verification will be completed for all returning students using the electronic residency verification process.

A letter will be sent via email the week of April 24, 2023 to families whose residency can not be verify electronically. The letter will provide details on additional information you will need to provide by August 11, 2023, in order to register your child for the upcoming school year.

Registration staff will be reviewing all emailed proof of residency to ensure proof of residency documents are current and accurate. You will be notified if there is any problem with the proof of residency you have submitted.

There will also be an app added to your child’s iPad called "D56 Registration" starting on April 10, 2023. (View picture of the app to the right.)

NOTE: ALL CURRENT FAMILIES ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR EACH OF YOUR STUDENTS FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR. YOUR STUDENT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO START SCHOOL UNTIL THE ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

ONLY: ALL FAMILIES THAT RECEIVED AN EMAIL REQUIRING FOR PROOF OF RESIDENCY NEED TO SUBMIT THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS. EMAILS WILL BE SENT THE WEEK OF APRIL 24, 2023.

Residency Affidavits are required to be renewed each school year. All families that register with an affidavit will be required to submit affidavit documents along with proof of residency. The Affidavits for 2023-2024 will be available for download from the Gurnee School District 56 website, on May 1, 2023. If you do not have access to a computer or printer, please contact registrar Aurora Orozco for assistance. The affidavits will also be available at all 4 schools and at the District Office.

If a parent/guardian is living with a relative or friend, the following process should be followed:

• Completed PARENT and RESIDENT affidavit, with the current date and ALL sections complete and notarized
• Present category 1 and 2 items associated with the homeowners identified on the affidavit
• Parent/Guardian and Homeowner's driver's license or state ID

You MUST complete online registration for each child by June 2, 2023, even if you cannot pay your fees now. If you complete the online registration by June 2, 2023, you will receive a $20 discount on school fees for each your child(ren).

The School Fees Waiver application for the 2023-2024 school year will be available August 2023.
