Fabulous Fall Festival
It was wonderful to see so many Lisbon families here last week for our 21st Annual Fall Festival. Hat’s off to our fabulous PTA and Cathy Datz for planning, organizing, and executing the amazing event!
Halloween Parade
On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, Lisbon ES will celebrate Halloween. Our annual costume parade around the school (outside weather permitting) will be held at 2:00 p.m. this year. However due to logistical concerns, only room parents and designated volunteers assisting with the parties may come into the classrooms.
Please review the following reminders/updates.
· Avoid any costumes that perpetuate violence, have any blood, gore, scary masks, or contain any type of weapons. Props that come with costumes that are “play weapons” are not allowed in school. This includes but is not limited to toy guns, knives, swords, sickles, pitchforks, etc.
· If you prefer that your child does not take part in the parade, please send a note to your child’s teacher or contact Mrs. Anoff at debra_anoff@hcpss.org.
· Visitors are welcome to watch the parade outside and gather in the front of the building!
Staff members will be available to help guide all visitors. However, due to logistical concerns, ONLY room parents and designated volunteers assisting with the parties will be permitted into classrooms. We ask that all other visitors remain outside of the building to enjoy the parade. Thank you for your cooperation.

2018 Winter Coat Drive
Do you have gently used or new coats that need a new home? Please send your washed, ready to wear, and gently used or new coats to Lisbon by Friday, October 26th. HCPSS Pupil Personnel Workers (PPWs), in cooperation with PTA Council of Howard County and other community organizations, are supporting the annual coat drive to provide students in our own school community (and their families) with winter coats, gloves, hats, scarves, etc. Girls and boys coats, sized infant to adult, are needed. Thank you in advance!
School Supply Donations
Our friends at Phelps Luck Elementary need our help! PLES is in need of: boxes of tissues, primary writing journals (journals with primary, dotted, handwriting lines and picture space), and poly expanding files (plastic expandable files with a rubber band closure and file divider pockets inside, for 8.5x11 letter size papers). Simply send your items to LES with your child or place them in the collection bin in front of the school office. Thank you SO much for your donation and ROARsome support of our HCPSS family!
Love for Cooper
Are you looking to support the Trueblood family? With frequent trips to and from the hospital, the family could use our support for things like gas, meals away from home, and specific items for Cooper. Gift cards are ideal (Visa and Amazon are two good general ones.), and these are being collected in the front office. You can drop them off or send them to school in an envelope marked “Cooper Trueblood.” Your thoughts and prayers are great gifts, too!
A PTA shoutout to Western Howard County Soccer!
Did you know that WHC Soccer donates $10 to our PTA for each Lisbon student registered?! 136 students from LES registered to play in the Fall 2018 season. That's a donation of $1,360.00! Many thanks to WHC Soccer and to all of our ROARSOME LES Lions who participated! Learn more at: https://www.whcsoccer.org/
