Timberwolf Times
Volume 5, Issue 34 - April 16, 2023
A Message from Dr. Lowry
Timberwolf Family,
Thank you for another amazing week!
We are in the home stretch of the school year! There are a few important announcements as we start this week. Please be sure to read this addition of Timberwolf Times thoroughly.
Parents, this Tuesday STAAR Testing begins. We have put together a calendar below of what tests to expect over the next couple months. Please keep in mind that our school will be a Closed Campus (Closed to Visitors) during these testing days until all students are done testing. This means no drop offs of any kind or student pick up during testing days. Please make sure your students have all their belongings before entering the building. Furthermore, there will be no tutorials held on STAAR testing days. Thank you for the help and understanding during this time.
Additionally, we have some great news to share. Our WoodCreek Chamber Orchestra has been invited to perform at the 77th annual Midwest Clinic, to be held in Chicago this December. This International Clinic is a monumental accomplishment for our program. Congrats on a job well done!
On another note, our Soccer and Tennis Teams had a great showing at their events this past week. We love to see the support for our Timberwolves! Also, this week Katy ISD had their Spring Art Show and we are proud to say 14 of our very own artists proudly represented WoodCreek. Great job everyone.
Our 8th Grade Celebration, Snow Ball is finally here! This Saturday, our cafeteria will be turned into a magical place to celebrate our 8th graders. Please see information below for time/date. Dress code for this event is also listed in the information below.
Finally, our amazing PTA hosted our last Fun Food Friday of the year. Thank you to all our PTA parents that were here to help make this event a success for our students. We appreciate you and all that you do for our school, staff and students.
GO TIMBERWOLVES!

STAAR TESTING SCHEDULE THIS WEEK
REMEMBER WE ARE A CLOSED CAMPUS DURING THESE TESTING DATES
2022-2023 STAAR TESTING
As required by House Bill 3261, STAAR will be administered online beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. The STAAR online testing platform offers all students multiple online tools to support the testing process. In addition, the STAAR assessments no longer have time limits. Students are expected to complete STAAR tests in about three hours; however, any student who needs additional time may continue testing until the end of the school day.
STAAR ONLINE PRACTICE TESTS
Parents are encouraged to access the Practice Tests Login located on the Texas Assessment website to explore practice tests. Practice Tests Login is found under the section How to Help Prepare Your Child. Log in as a Guest to view the assessment options.2022-2023 STAAR TESTING RESOURCES
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has developed the following: What Families Should Know About STAAR to help parents understand the redesigned STAAR test. Parents are also encouraged to view STAAR Redesign Resources for Parents, a webpage, designed by TEA, to specifically answer questions parents may have about the redesigned STAAR test.Advisory & STAAR Prep
We made some changes to advisory as we prepare for STAAR and our last six week’s of school. Essentially, we are refocusing and utilizing advisory better academically.
Advisory will be utilized as a time for study hall, tutorial sessions, enrichment sessions (STAAR Targeted Advisory) or silent reading.
Students will be expected to store all electronic devices in their backpacks at the front of the room (Similar to STAAR testing).
Teachers are still permitted to request students to make-up work, attend tutorials, complete re-test and receive enrichment. The growth and success of every child is a priority at WoodCreek Junior High and this change is being made to help focus our students' attention on academics and school. Advisory is part of our instructional minutes, and we will be taking advantage of this time as we head into the end of our school year.

2023-2024 School Supply List
2023-2024 School Supply lists are on the WCJH Homepage under Campus Announcements.
The WoodCreek Junior High PTA has partnered again with 1st Day School Supplies for the 2023-2024 school year to offer school supply kits as a courtesy to parents. These kits are based on the official WoodCreek Junior High school supply list and each kit purchased comes with a Parent PTA Membership.
Like last year, the grade level kits will be delivered to your home with the exception of 5 items (tissues, paper towels, dry-erase markers, index cards, and zipper storage bags ) which will be delivered directly to the school to be distributed.
We have also provided a “community items” donation option that can be purchased and sent directly to the school. These donations will help replenish some of the more frequently used items by staff and students throughout the year.
July 1st is the last day to order. To purchase, use the link below:

Homeroom parent sign up
https://forms.gle/XQwVR3XptGju6vnh9

station to ensure students are staying together. Teachers will be running the stations and will be there to assist.
The homeroom parent is responsible for bringing a cooler for the day to keep all
the drinks cold for lunch and for breaks. I would ike for every teacher to have a homeroom
parent. Right now I have homeroom parents for Noto, Moreno, Mr. Guess, Howard, Hoefler &
Schindler.

1. Send them with your son or daughter to bring to their advisory teacher
