College & Career Week

We concluded a fun, interactive, and informative College and Career Week on Friday. Students started their mornings learning about the history of colleges and universities as well as the most popular careers in the United States. Students were able to virtually tour college campuses, write college applications, compare and contrast Wrightsboro to universities around the world, and decorate pennants for the future. Virtual Career Day launched on Thursday allowing students to watch recorded videos of professionals around the United States describing various careers and job fields. Our students also participated in a College and Career Spirit Week where we saw bright colors, college and technical “swag”, interview-ready outfits, and future scholar and professional dress up. My hope is that after last week, our students are or will become aware they have many options and choices along the path to a career and will research, take time, and use tools available to find the right fit for them.

Earth Day Celebration

We celebrated Earth Day on Thursday, April 22nd with a school wide morning meeting on zoom. We love coming together as a school! Mr. Cruz taught us about Earth Day, Mrs. Overby read a poem about the Earth, and Mrs. Keller led us in earth inspired yoga stretches. Students learned about the Earth throughout the day.

Spotlight on First Grade!

The first grade team is excited about all the learning their students are doing face to face and remotely. Students have been learning vowel consonant e words, compound words, and how to identify syllables in words. They are increasing their spelling and vocabulary every day! In reading and writing, students have been doing an amazing job learning about nonfiction and how to identify text features. They have also been doing awesome at attempting to write their own non-fiction pieces. First graders love math! Students have been adding and subtracting from multiples of ten using various strategies. Lastly, students have participated in the school-wide zoom meeting and made their own paws describing all the wonderful traits about themselves, participated in College and Career Week, and took part in some fun Earth Day activities. We are excited about all the growth our students are making and look forward to their continued success!
