Graduating Year 6 Class of 2022
Message from Geordie
And we made it!
A huge thanks to all our parents for making this year an amazing one for our students! I feel so blessed to be part of such a vibrant, engaged community with a relaxed vibe and supportive parents.
Thanks for telling us kindly when we got it wrong, thanks for the supportive emails when you could see how hard we were trying, thanks for your sense of humour on the cross-walk and for your patience when someone does something silly in the carpark…...Thanks for being part of your children’s education and working with us in their best interests – when this happens, we get the best outcome for all 480 students in our school! Finally, a huge thanks for the generosity and kindness shown at the end the year – the cards, notes and gifts are much appreciated by myself and all our staff!
This week we congratulated all our Children’s University Graduates at their ceremony at UWA. This has been a highly successful first year of the program with lots of positive feedback from our students and parents. Well done, congrats and thank you to Mrs Murphy who has done a fabulous job organising and supporting our students.
On Wednesday our Christmas Concert went off with a bang and I can’t thank everyone enough for coming out to sit, relax and enjoy each other’s company for our Nativity Concert. Mrs Poasa did a fantastic job to organise and run the night and I would also like to thank her team of Mrs Flynn, Mrs Murphy and Mrs Crawford who supported her so well! On Thursday our Year 6 students went off to Adventure World to celebrate their Graduation and our remaining students enjoyed their Big Day In, complete with movies and water play! Huge thanks to the staff, particularly Mrs Cosgrove, for making the day so enjoyable.
And to our Year 6 Graduates… You may have been asking questions, such as, ‘What will high school REALLY be like? Will I get lost? Will I make friends? What if I forget something at home? How hard will the work be?’ and many more. Please be reassured that these types of questions are very normal and much the same ones we also asked when we started high school. Based on the evidence of many students who have gone before you, after the first few weeks, you will feel like you have been there forever and most of your worries will seem like a distant memory!
I have very fond memories of my own primary school years and it is my genuine hope that each one of you will also look back on your years here at St Bernie’s with both fondness and gratitude, for the people, the experiences and the opportunities that have been part of your journey. You have individually and collectively helped to shape this journey of course, through your own unique personality, through your effort, through your attitude, through your ability to listen, cooperate, work hard, empathise, cooperate, forgive, help, see things from the perspective of another and much more. Good luck to all our graduates for their next adventure!
Have a great holiday, and a safe and happy Christmas! We have one more week to go here, and then I am looking forward to getting down south, turning off my devices and enjoying some much-needed time with my family!
Merry Christmas! I can’t wait to do it all again next year!
