Next weeks school target is:

Remember to follow instructions.

World Book Day 3rd March.

For this year’s World Book Day, we would not only like to share our love

of reading, but to also make connections with issues that are important to the

children right across school. Our fantastic Worship Team recently held an

inspiring assembly discussing climate change, and we know that their message

reflected a passion that all our children share: to use less resources, and to

produce less waste. With this in mind we would like the outfits for World Book

Day to be more creative, and less reliant on purchasing something new.

We are going to use the book The Boy, the mole, the fox and the Horse,

by Charlie Mackesy as our inspiration for the day, as this also links to our

pastoral work on dreams and goals.

We would like the children to firstly think about their own dreams and

goals. What are their hopes for the future? What would they like to do when

they are older? Is there a book that they have read that inspires them?

Next, they need to think about how can they represent their dreams and

goals in an outfit, or an object to share?

So, let’s get creative, let’s have fun, and let’s get reading!

Half term activities.

If you want some ideas for activities during the half term break, you could try looking at this website which has lots of good ideas for parents - https://www.welovefrugi.com/blog/2022/02/half-term-activities-with-leaf/

Carbon Dioxide Monitors.

As you know, Good ventilation is an important tool to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19. The DFE is supporting schools to make sure our classrooms are well-ventilated by providing us with carbon dioxide (CO2) monitors. CO2 levels as measured by these monitors are a proxy for good ventilation, and they can indicate when ventilation needs improving. We have been using these for some time and have found that they are helping us to keep a balance of good ventilation with keeping classrooms warm during the colder weather.

Training Day Fri 18th February.

Don’t forget that next Friday is a school training day. School will not be open to pupils on Friday 18th February; they will break up for half term on Thursday 17th February.

Learning Review Day Weds 9th March.

Our Learning Review day will take place on 9th March when school will be closed to pupils. A separate letter has been sent regarding the format of Learning Reviews.

Send a shout out to a member of staff.

This is to recognise staff who have done something great. We want to recognise the achievement of all our staff so please help up to pass on your nice comments and thanks.

Pupil Absence Requests

This form should be completed by the parent/carer and returned to the school as far in advance as possible and preferably preferably with sufficient notice before the first intended day of absence.

The DfE regulations for attendance state that leave of absence during term-time should not be granted by schools unless there are ‘exceptional circumstances.’ Parents/carers must obtain the school’s permission before making any arrangements for leave in exceptional circumstances, otherwise the absence will be recorded as unauthorised and may result in a penalty notice being served.

Parent Volunteers

We hope to be able to welcome volunteers into school very soon. However, any previous DBS check will have now expired and will need to be renewed. If you would like to volunteer to help in school on a regular basis in future, please contact the office so that we can begin the process in applying for a new DBS. You will need to bring in some ID, a current passport, driving licence and utility bill issued within the last 3 months. We will also need 2 character references so please also provide the names and email addresses of 2 people who could provide this for you. Thank you for your continued support.
