Monk Fryston Weekly News 11.2.22
Next weeks school target is:
World Book Day 3rd March.
For this year’s World Book Day, we would not only like to share our love
of reading, but to also make connections with issues that are important to the
children right across school. Our fantastic Worship Team recently held an
inspiring assembly discussing climate change, and we know that their message
reflected a passion that all our children share: to use less resources, and to
produce less waste. With this in mind we would like the outfits for World Book
Day to be more creative, and less reliant on purchasing something new.
We are going to use the book The Boy, the mole, the fox and the Horse,
by Charlie Mackesy as our inspiration for the day, as this also links to our
pastoral work on dreams and goals.
We would like the children to firstly think about their own dreams and
goals. What are their hopes for the future? What would they like to do when
they are older? Is there a book that they have read that inspires them?
Next, they need to think about how can they represent their dreams and
goals in an outfit, or an object to share?
So, let’s get creative, let’s have fun, and let’s get reading!

Pupil Absence Requests
The DfE regulations for attendance state that leave of absence during term-time should not be granted by schools unless there are ‘exceptional circumstances.’ Parents/carers must obtain the school’s permission before making any arrangements for leave in exceptional circumstances, otherwise the absence will be recorded as unauthorised and may result in a penalty notice being served.
Parent Volunteers
We hope to be able to welcome volunteers into school very soon. However, any previous DBS check will have now expired and will need to be renewed. If you would like to volunteer to help in school on a regular basis in future, please contact the office so that we can begin the process in applying for a new DBS. You will need to bring in some ID, a current passport, driving licence and utility bill issued within the last 3 months. We will also need 2 character references so please also provide the names and email addresses of 2 people who could provide this for you. Thank you for your continued support.
