Thanksgiving Message from Dr. Hargett

At this time of the year, as we reflect on Thanksgiving and thankfulness, I want to take this opportunity to share just a few things for which I am thankful:

I am thankful for our students, who come to school every day ready to learn – they give us all a daily reminder of what is important in life and why we do what we do every day. I am thankful for the support of our parents, as they continue to share their most valuable possession with us and-in most cases- work hard and advocate to be a partner in their children’s education, safety and well-being. I am thankful for the teachers, tutors, and support staff who not only care about our student’s success, but who also really have the best interests of our students at heart. They, along with parents, are ambassadors for our school. I am thankful for our Board of Directors, who believe in, and share the vision and mission of Greengate School, and continue to make it possible for the school to be a viable resource in our community. I am also thankful for our many volunteers who enthusiastically contribute so much to our school.

In these most difficult and challenging times, we see dedicated and tireless individuals going above and beyond to make sure that great things happen in our school. They do make a difference, and the children, in their own individual ways, benefit from those efforts.

I would like to wish all of you and your families a happy, healthy and relaxing upcoming Thanksgiving holiday!

It's time for Greengate's Annual College Football Can-A-Thon! Bring in cans (or other non-perishable food items) for your favorite college and get some points on the board! Our goal is to collect 600 cans for the food pantry at Holmes Street United Methodist, so they can feed hungry families this holiday season. On Friday, November 18th, we'll announce which fans brought the most cans! And students can earn "No Uniform" passes for every 10 cans they bring in! This picture from last year shows just how generous our students and families were to help this cause.
