Panda Paws Parent Newsletter
10/30/2020
Dear Panda Parents,
Good Afternoon Pandas,
The last two weeks have been full of excitement. The students assisted with the Red Ribbon Week Door Decorating Contest and also participated in the Vocabulary Showcase today. Today was the last day of Fall Diagnostic Make- up testing on -campus. We are at a 100 percent participation rate. Thank you to all the parents and guardians for your support. Over the next few days we will begin to analyze the data in Reading and Math and formulate a plan for our students to remediate weak skills and enrich their strengths. This will be done through small group Professional Learning Communities with the teachers.
As always, you can check out the SIS Parent Gateway and use the student portal to see all things related to your student. As a reminder please arrive at 7:30 if you would like breakfast. School begins promptly at 8 AM. Also if you are the parent of a virtual student that was selected for Scientist or Mathematician of the month, stop by the main office to pick up your sign. Additionally, the Boynton Beach Police Department donated uniform shirts, school supplies, and back packs for the students. We hope to begin distributing all materials before Thanksgiving break. Don't forget that every Tuesday and Thursday is Food Distribution from 11-12 in the front of the school. Next week students will receive a flyer for picture day on November 9. Parents can pay online or use the envelope included. Look for that on DOJO and student bookbags for the link. The link is also below on the calendar.
Student engagement is essential in order for children to get the most out of their lessons, whether they be in person or as part of a Google Classroom. Please take a moment to review this brief video message from Superintendent Donald Fennoy. He shared advice about how parents and guardians can support their children academically as part of his Friday 5 weekly newsletter.
As we close out the month of October, we also want to remind parents that November 4 marks the start of the Make Your Choice commitment to either have your child’s instruction take place via distance learning or in-person. After November 4, you may request for a change to your choice if you have an extenuating circumstance. Should that occur, please request a waiver from our school office.
It is vital that both parents and students continue to remain fully aware of the latest updates to important information:
● Student Engagement Reminders: School leaders and teachers are working diligently to provide an optimal learning environment for all students. Students in Distance Learning should have a designated work space during the school day. Distance Learners are also expected to turn on their cameras during instructional time so teachers can continue to gauge their level of interest and involvement.
● Student Attendance Policy Reminder: All students are expected to attend school regularly and to be on time for classes in order to benefit from the instructional program and to develop habits of punctuality, self-discipline, and responsibility. Each student is required to attend classes one hundred and eighty (180) days each school year. To be in compliance with these attendance requirements, students must not accumulate fifteen (15) unexcused absences in a period of ninety (90) calendar days. Policy 5.09 Absenteeism, excused or unexcused, regardless of the reason, negatively affects the continuity of the learning process. As a student’s absenteeism increases, there is a greater responsibility for the school to deter future absenteeism, and there is a greater responsibility for the student to demonstrate that such absenteeism has not negatively affected performance mastery. Refer to Student and Family Handbook and Modified Distance Learning Student Attendance.
Have a restful weekend, see you on Monday!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. McDowell
¡He aquí algo para animarse!
Tanpri pran yon ti tan pou revize mesaj videyo kout sa a Sipèentandan Donald Fennoy fè. Li pataje konsèy sou fason paran yo ak responsab yo kapab sipòte pitit yo akademikman menmjan li fè sa nan bilten chak vandredi a.
Pandan mwa oktòb la ap fini, nou vle raple paran yo ke 4 novanm se dat angajman pou pitit ou oswa ap vini lekòl anpèsòn oswa nan aprantisay adistans ap kòmanse.
Men yon bagay pou n aplodi! Atlèt nou yo pral retounen sou teren yo. Genyen twa match foutbòl ki pwograme pou jodi a ak demen. Akoz COVID-19, pwotokòl espektatè yo chanje epi yo ap mande yo pou achte tikè yo alavans sou entènèt oswa nan Ap "GoFan".
Tanpri gade la a pou w li pwotokòl yo: https://www.palmbeachschools.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=270616&pageId=12587319
Elèv k ap aprann adistans yo dwe toujou limen kamera yo pandan tan ansèyman an pou pwofesè yo kapab wè nivo enterè yo ak angajman yo.
• Rapèl Règleman sou Prezans Elèv: Tout elèv dwe ale lekòl regilyèman epi yo dwe alè nan klas yo pou yo ka benefisye de pwogram ansèyman an epi devlope abitid ponktyalite, otodisiplin, ak responsablite. Chak elèv oblije ale nan klas san katreven (180) jou chak ane lekòl. Pou yo kapab konfòme yo avèk kondisyon prezans sa yo, elèv yo pa dwe akimile kenz (15) absans ki pa eskize nan yon peryòd katrevendis (90) jou nan kalandriye a. Règleman 5.09 Absans, eskize oswa san eskiz, kèlkeswa rezon an, afekte negativman kontinite pwosesis aprantisay la. Pandan absans yon elèv ogmante, gen yon pi gwo responsablite pou lekòl la dekouraje absans pi devan, epi gen yon pi gwo responsablite pou elèv la demontre ke absans sa a pa te afekte negativnan pèfòmans li. New T-Shirt Vendor
We now have a new Poinciana T-Shirt vendor for all your school T-Shirt needs. Below you will find a statement written by the vendor regarding COVID and safety measures.
We adapted to the local and or statewide orders while keeping our business running. We continue making local adaptions to resume more standard work modes while sticking with our principles of keeping our associates and our customers safe. With that being said, we have made the following adaptions for our schools.
1. Orders will no longer be dropped off at the schools or brought to your child’s classroom.
2. You will have the following 2 options:
a. Option 1 – you can have your items shipped direct to your home for a USPS flat rate of $9.00
b. Option 2 – once a week on Friday afternoon the school will pickup all the orders for that week. They will distribute them to the students the following Monday.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we are all in this together and working to keep everyone safe and healthy.
If you do not receive an email after you place your order. Please call 561-906-4084
