GBMS Curriculum Night

Thursday, Sep. 13th, 6-8pm

325 South Kenilworth Avenue

Oak Park, IL

During this time, you will be visiting each of your student’s classroom teachers by following their schedule. As you visit each of your student’s classes, you will learn each subjects “Year at a Glance”, “Top 3 Take-a-ways” and “How you can support your student at home”. You’ll be able to see each of the classrooms where your student spends their time learning as well as meet your student’s teacher.

Here is link to download a graphic organizer you can complete prior to the evening. The first class you will visit will be your student's advisory teacher (listed as period 10 on your student's schedule).

Recognizing Staff who Make a Difference

If you or your student would like to recognize any staff member (a teacher, a teacher assistant, social worker, librarian, front office staff, lunchroom staff, custodial staff or school administrator) please take a moment to complete this form. The staff member will receive a certificate detailing the information shared through this form.

Powerschool and Canvas - Observer account set up guides

If you would like to set up an observer account on Powerschool or Canvas, please refer to the help guide links below. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Ms. Vashti Carter at or by calling the main office at (708) 524-3050. We will also share more information during PTO Food Truck event on 9/17 from 5pm to 8:30pm.

Wondering when you'll start receiving the weekly PTO email? You won't! This year, all PTO information will be included in the Middle Matters newsletter, making all of the information you need available in one place.

Food Truck Night and Brooks Community Meeting

Take the night off from making dinner and join us on Monday, September 17 for some great food and our first Brooks Community meeting. Several food trucks will outside from 5:00 - 6:30, then stay for our first Brooks Community meeting at 7:00 and learn more about Canvas, Power School, and technology at Brooks. Free child care will be available for the meeting. More information can be found here!

In order to Audition you must:


(i.e. Broadway, Jazz, Classical, NO POP PLEASE!)

* Participate in Chorus, Band or Orchestra Curricular Classes

* Turn in a signed permission slip to Mr. Dykla by Monday, September 10, 2018, 3:30 p.m.

Permission slip is located by D105. Emails are not substitutes for permission slips. No permission slip—No Audition—No exceptions!!!

Students are required to be present for the whole audition time and will be auditioning in front of other students.

Callback lists will be posted on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. on Canvas and the doors entering the 1st Floor “D” Wing. Students are responsible for checking these lists and attending callbacks. Students who miss callbacks forfeit their eligibility for the groups.
