GBMS Curriculum Night
During this time, you will be visiting each of your student’s classroom teachers by following their schedule. As you visit each of your student’s classes, you will learn each subjects “Year at a Glance”, “Top 3 Take-a-ways” and “How you can support your student at home”. You’ll be able to see each of the classrooms where your student spends their time learning as well as meet your student’s teacher.
Here is link to download a graphic organizer you can complete prior to the evening. The first class you will visit will be your student's advisory teacher (listed as period 10 on your student's schedule).

Recognizing Staff who Make a Difference
If you or your student would like to recognize any staff member (a teacher, a teacher assistant, social worker, librarian, front office staff, lunchroom staff, custodial staff or school administrator) please take a moment to complete this form. The staff member will receive a certificate detailing the information shared through this form.
MAP Testing: Reading and Math
Testing Wednesday, 9/5 through Friday, 9/21. If student misses a test, make-up testing will occur during this window.
GBMS Library/Media Center
Library is also open during each lunch periods. Students need to request a pass from a teacher BEFORE their lunch.

Food Truck Night and Brooks Community Meeting
STARSHIP REMINDER - Last Chance!
The deadline to sign-up for the Starship lunch program is now! Starship is a local restaurant that provides lunch each Tuesday for the students that have signed up, and it is the primary fundraiser for the PTO. It is a great way to get out of making lunch for your student every Tuesday and also a great way to support the PTO at Brooks.
All orders for the year must be in to the office or ordered online by Sunday, September 9th. Starship will begin on Tuesday, September 18th and will run every Tuesday, to May 21. If you have questions about Starship please email Bryn Poulton at starshipbrooks@gmail.com. Orff Ensemble
IThe Brooks Orff Ensemble (a marimba, xylophone, and drumming music ensemble) will start up on Monday, September 17. Rehearsals for this school year will be held on weekly Monday mornings from 8:00-8:50 AM. Students should arrive at the school by 7:55 PM so rehearsals can start promptly at 8:00 AM. Participation is open to all students - no audition required, but enrollment is limited to 40 students. Interested students can sign-up and pick up permission slips outside of the music room (D104). * Turn in a signed permission slip to Mr. Dykla by Monday, September 10, 2018, 3:30 p.m.
Permission slip is located by D105. Emails are not substitutes for permission slips. No permission slip—No Audition—No exceptions!!!
Students are required to be present for the whole audition time and will be auditioning in front of other students.
Callback lists will be posted on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. on Canvas and the doors entering the 1st Floor “D” Wing. Students are responsible for checking these lists and attending callbacks. Students who miss callbacks forfeit their eligibility for the groups.
