Engineering Teacher, Melissa Baker, Recognized as an Outstanding Project Lead The Way Teacher

Melissa Baker, the Project Lead the Way Engineering teacher, is one of only 59 PLTW teachers across the U.S. to earn the 2022-23 Outstanding PLTW Teacher award!

In three years, Ms. Baker has developed a successful engineering program despite the challenges of COVID. She went from having one class of 26 robotics students to now having five classes of PLTW Engineering courses. Engineering students participate in many competitions: VEX Robotics Competitions, Civil Engineering Competitions, and underwater ROV competitions.

Mrs. Sexton Named August Teacher of the Month

Theodore's Teacher of the Month for August is Mrs. Tabitha Sexton! Mrs. Sexton is a Theodore High School alumni, and she currently teaches English.

Mr. Hardegree says he is proud to name Mrs. Sexton Teacher of the Month because she is a selfless and passionate educator who is devoted to Theodore. One of the main reasons she was selected as August Teacher of the Month is because she stepped up this summer to lead Bobcat Camp, and she went above and beyond to make it an amazing experience.

Academy of Craft Training

Theodore High School has four students enrolled in Academy of Craft Training's inaugural class for the Mobile Campus at Brookley Field. These students will receive training for commercial and industrial construction in a simulated workplace environment.

Academy of Craft Training has opened afternoon classes! These classes will be the last two classes every afternoon (Both A and B days) at Brookley Field. Any junior or senior interested must see the Academy Specialist (Mrs. Pippin) ASAP to check your class schedule for availability.

Due to the number of students that have requested ACT - Mobile but could only attend in the afternoon because of scheduling issues, ACT has added an afternoon session with 25 spots available. It will be listed as a Building Construction course, but they will be receiving training in all 3 of the trades (Welding, Building Construction, and Electrical). Students who attend the afternoon session must provide their own transportation to the site each day.
