Welborne Word
October 30, 2023, Issue #10
Dear Families,
Hot Lunch will be delivered on Friday this week. Hot lunch must be pre-ordered. The order deadline for this week has passed, but if you would like to order for next week, please log in to your School Day account.
This week, we have two planned Spirit Days. Tomorrow is Black and Orange Day. Students may choose to wear orange and/or black clothing. On Wednesday, it's Welborne Wednesday! We encourage students to wear any Welborne gear they have and/or blue and yellow clothing to show their school spirit!
We also want to share with families some key information about preventing and treating lice. We do have cases of lice at Welborne across all grades. We recommend checking your student's hair/head for lice on a regular basis. Please see the section below for more information.
Friday, November 24th is Welborne Night at the Kingston Fronts Game! Thanks to Mr. Large and his efforts, we will have a small group of students singing O Canada at the game too!
Please use the QR code or the link in the poster below to purchase your tickets. We look forward to seeing a Welborne crowd at the game on November 24th!
***Our goal is to have 400 people from Welborne at the game! If you need financial support in order to attend this game, please email welba@limestone.on.ca so we can support you.
Finally, we are looking for clean, used pants for our Full Circle Clothing Program. We are specifically looking for sizes 3T-6T. Thank you in advance.
If you have any questions, please email us at welba@limestone.on.ca.
Warm regards,
Ms. Fraser, Mrs. Wellwood, and Ms. Hart

Please Help Us - Field Trips
Please consider the following:
- Connect with your student about up-coming field trips. These will be posted at School-Day.com
- Complete the online forms and any required payment by the indicated date
- Obtain your CPIC with Vulnerable Sector check online in advance if you are able to volunteer. All trips are required to have a specific adult to student ratio and volunteers play an important role in meeting these ratios.
- Ensure your student is at school ahead of the departure time. Late students may not be able to participate.
We thank you in advance for your help. We do not have the resources at school to process last-minute changes. Moving forward, we will not be able to make any changes on the day of a field trip.
Please contact the teacher organizing the trip well in advance if you need support.
Lice
Anyone can get lice, but it’s more common in children because they are often in close contact playing together. Having head lice doesn’t mean that your child is not clean. Head lice are tiny insects that live on the scalp and can cause itching. They do not spread disease and therefore are not a public health concern. There is no medical reason for your child to be excluded from school or childcare for having head lice. For tips on what to do if your child has head lice visit the Canadian Paediatric Society website.
Here is a helpful video about how to find lice: https://myhealth.alberta.ca/alberta/Pages/how-to-treat-head-lice.aspx
November is Welborne Month at Cobs Bread! It's an excellent fundraising opportunity for us!

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month
Cyber Security Awareness Month (Cyber Month) is an internationally recognized campaign heldevery October to promote the importance of cyber security. To help Ontario school boards promote safer and more secure practices across their school communities, the Educational Computing Network of Ontario (ECNO) has created the K-12 Cyber Awareness Month Campaign.
With the 2023 theme, “Together we rise: Cyberheroes unite for online safety!,” ECNO is encouraging educators, students and families to unite to increase awareness about potential threats to our cyber security, cyber safety and online privacy, and promoting best practices.
Each week in October, the campaign will focus on a different theme related to cyber awareness. Find the full list of themes below, and be sure to check back each week for new tips and resources related to the topic of the week.
