A Message from the Principal
October 26, 2020
Dear Holy Family Catholic School Community,
It was great to see so many people at the Coffee and Conversation with the Principal last Wednesday, thank you for attending!
Grandparents Day was an amazing and heartfelt success! The love that was shared between grandparents and their grandchildren was joyful and delightful, even via Zoom. Thank you for attending Grandparents, you are loved and appreciated!
The Diocese is no longer using the IOWA test to assess student learning, we are now using ACT/Aspire. ACT/Aspire allows us to do periodic benchmarking to chart student progress throughout the year, IOWA did not provide this important feature. Like IOWA, ACT/Aspire also has a summative standardized test that is administered once a year; we will not utilize this test until 2021-2022.The students will take three periodic benchmark tests during the course of the year. These tests will help the teachers support individualized learning strategies with their students.
We will be administering ACT/Aspire periodic benchmarking tests to our 3rd through 8th graders during the weeks of November 9 and November 16; your child’s homeroom teacher will share which days each grade level will be testing.
I am so proud of our 8th graders for organizing a collection of items for the homeless! They have assigned different items to each grade level and they hope to assemble at least 50 Ziploc bags full of these essentials. Please bring your donations to school on November 9th. Here is the list of items the 8th graders are asking for:
8th: A pack of athletic crew socks
7th: Travel size shampoo
6th: Soap
5th: Water
4th: Tooth brush and tooth paste
3rd: Lotion
2nd: Note for the homeless (will be done in class)
1st: Deodorant
PK-K: Drawing (will be done in class)
All Saints Day is Sunday, November 1st, and our students are getting ready to celebrate! Some of our students will be dressed as saints at this Thursday’s School Mass. Mass will be livestreamed via the parish Facebook page.
Start shopping for your scary socks - this Friday is a free Halloween Sock Day!
