PRIDE is a word often used when discussing this blue-collar town seated on the banks of Lake George ... and it resonates strongly when talking about the Brickies. Whether it's in the classroom, athletics or somewhere else, we push our kids to illustrate Passion, Respect, Integrity, Determination & Effort! This week gave the entire community a few more opportunities to witness those fine characteristics on display ... particularly within athletics. Let's face it - our Brickies ROCK!

Right now, let's ROCK this week's edition of BricksCenter!

After earning Ws in their 1st two home contests, the Lady Brickies faced a tall task this past week ... hitting the road to play two 2022 IHSAA Sectional Champions!

On Wednesday night, Hobart was in Porter County to take on the Kouts Fillies, a team that won 20 games a year ago including the IHSAA Class 1A Sectional. After blowout victories in their first two games, the Lady Bricks would be in for a BATTLE! In a very competitive game that saw Kouts make more FTs than Hobart attempted (16-12), our girls stayed the course ... played their proverbial butts off ... and came home with a HUGE 52-42 VICTORY!! Senior Asia Donald had a MONSTER game with 34 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists! Classmate Niko Latinovic added 9 pts and 5 rebs in the win!

Saturday, the Griffith Lady Panthers ... 2022 IHSAA Class 3A Sectional Champions ... were the opponent as our girls were once again on the road. In fact, the Panthers had won the last two Class 3A sectionals, but graduation hit this group hard last spring and the 2022 team was almost all newcomers. After the game was tied 2-2 early on, the Lady Brickies rattled off 17 straight points and led 19-2 at the end of the 1st quarter! As has been the staple of this year's group, pressure D-D-D-DEFENSE in both full court and half court by Hobart caused all kinds of problems for Griffith and created easy basket opportunities for the Bricks! The second quarter was even more dominant as our girls outscored the Panthers 28-1 ... WOW!!

Senior Emma Ortiz was dynamite defensively, Donald again filled the net with 31 points, and Latinovic & junior guard Cailey Weber each added 10 & 9 points respectively as the Lady Brickies cruised to an easy 66-13 VICTORY!

Hobart is now 4-0 on the season so far and will face two neighborhood rivals over the next 6 days ... Lake Station on Tuesday and River Forest on Saturday. LET'S GO BRICKS!!
