The Colt Express

Principal's Message:

Greetings Colts Community,

It was another great week in Colt Country! On Monday, we started our Annual Food Drive and our families showed up with plenty of donations! Giving back and supporting our community is the Colt way! Thank you families for your kind and generous contributions!

On Tuesday, our students learned about the importance of water conservation with a school assembly titled, "Waterology!" It was an interactive assembly that our Colt Scholars enjoyed.

In other news, Mr. Stark and Mrs. Dale’s 5th grade classes had a great time on their second visit to the Bonsall Farm! If you want to see some happy students, take a look at some of the pictures on display in the Bonsall Farm section of the newsletter.

Lastly, on Friday, we honored our Bonsall West Staff who are Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. It coincided with College and/or Career Day and we had a couple of students come dressed in their future military uniforms and pose with two of our three Veterans. Take a look in our Staff Spotlight section as we acknowledge the sacrifices they made for our freedoms.

Jog-A-Thon update: We have currently raised $28,182 dollars. Our goal is $35,000. We have until November 15th to continue fundraising for our school! A HUGE thank you to parents, family and friends that have donated to support BWE and all of the programs and academic resources that these dollars cover for our kids. Go the www.pledgestar.com/bonsall to donate today.

Scroll down to our dates to remember section and be sure to mark your personal calendars. Our goal at Bonsall West is that of Dreaming Big and going from Great to the Greatest!

Hello Bonsall West Friends and Families!

Thank you so very much for all of your support this year’s Jog-a-Thon! We are so grateful for your contributions, your volunteer time, and your treat and water donations.

We are happy to report that we have raised $28,182! We are off to a good start, but we aren’t quite yet to our fundraising goal for this year of $35,000. All the money raised goes right back to the school, the students, and teachers, and helps pay for field trips, programs and apps for the classroom, teacher grants, assemblies, Chrome books, school and community events, and much more!

If you have not set up an account on our Pledgestar site, you still can! Please visit pledgestar.com/bonsall/ to set up your family account and begin fundraising.

The first round of prizes were delivered on Friday. We have the second round of prizes coming next week, and it’s not to late to start earning prizes! Fundraising will continue until November 15.

Please join us for our PTA General Association Meeting on Thursday, November 16th via Zoom at 5:30 pm. See flier below.

Thank you so much for all your ongoing support. We have a wonderful school because of you.

Many thanks,

Bonsall West PTA

We cannot do the work we do without you, the parents and guardians. You are an important piece in your child’s academic success and your child’s first teacher. Now, more than ever, we need to work as community partners to support each and every child. One way to continue with support is by joining the PTA on Totem: https://jointotem.com/ca/oceanside/bonsall-west We have been very fortunate to have a strong relationship with our PTA and receive significant financial support for our students.

COVID Test Kits

Bonsall Unified School District has supplied two COVID test kits per student for our site. If you would like you, the parent or guardian, may pick them up at Bonsall West Elementary. These COVID tests are provided to you as a courtesy. Testing is not required by our district.

Although we are excited to have your child attend school every day, when your child is sick, we do ask you to keep him or her at home. Specifically, if your child has tested positive for COVID, he or she should remain at home for five (5) days from the onset of symptoms or positive COVID test (if asymptomatic). Your child may return on Day 6, unless he or she remains sick. Masking upon return to school is not required by the District.

We wish you great health as we know the cold and flu season approaches, and encourage you to place special attention to taking practical steps to boost your student’s immune system by providing nutritious food, proper amounts of sleep, and good doses of exercise.

Community Partners

The Leader in Me

Big picture

At Bonsall West Elementary School we are focusing on the Leader in Me to build lifelong leadership skills.

We want our students to focus on the 7 habits:

1. Feel empowered to be proactive and be in charge of themselves.

2. Set goals and begin with the end in mind,

3. Focus on work first then play with put first things first.

4. Have an abundance mindset and think win-win.

5. Listen to our peers and seek first to understand, then be understood.

6. Work collaboratively and synergize.

7. Have school work/life balance and sharpen the saw.

We have a couple of resources that explains the paradigm shifts and habits that we focus on and will get them to you soon.

All students will attend a BWE expectations assembly this week. We will review schoolwide expectations/rules and answer any questions.
