My Element is Titanium

Some physical properties of Titanium are.....

Titanium is a hard, shiny, and strong metal that is mad out of minerals. The atomic mass is 47.86 u and the density is 4.54 per cubic centimeter. The melting point of titanium is 1660 Celsius which would convert to 3020 Fahrenheit. The boiling point is 3287 Celsius and that converts to 5948.6 Fahrenheit. Titanium is strong as steel

Do you think titanium is stronger than a bullet?

Info on Titanium

Titanium can be found on the periodic table in group 4 and in period 4. It was first discovered in 1791 by Reverend William Gregor, an English pastor. It wasn't first produced until 1910 by Matthew A. Hunter, an American Metallurgist. William found it first in Cornwall, Great Britain. William identified gun powder like sand and he found a reddish brown clay he couldn't identify. Then the chemist Martin Heinrich discovered it again and named it as titanium.

How Titanium is used....

Titanium is the ninth most abundant in the earth's crust. Titanium is commonly used in paint, rubber, paper. 46 Ti - 50 Ti are all stable isotopes. Ti-47 is used as an alternative to the precursor for the production of v-48. Ti-48 is used in the production of radioisotope v-48 which is used in nutritional studies and for calibrating PET. The most important compound of titanium is Titanium Dioxide. Titanium dioxide is a dense white powder that has the ability to hide things. That term means anything that's beneath it cannot be seen that well.

Fun Facts....

The name is derived from the titans. Titan originates from the Greek word "Titanos". The symbol is just shortened for titan.

  • Titanium has a low density and good strength
  • Titanium is the only element that burns with nitrogen
  • Titanium is used in Fireworks
  • Titanium dioxide is what makes paper white
