What was his life like in Paris?
He was born in Paris in 1848. He and is family left for Peru, but he soon returned in 1871. While he was there, he married a woman named Mette Sophie Gad. He was also a stockbroker, but had a passion for art. He had a few friends that were artists. The most famous probably being Camille Pissaro, Paul Cezanne, and Vincent Van Gough. With the help from these friends he introduced his famous Asian and African styles to Paris, and started a new wave of Post-Impressionism and Symbolism.
