Math Stuff #4
Highlighting some Math Ideas and Strategies
TIM'S TAKE ON MATHTRAIN.TV
It would be great if students in EMS-ISD were making their own videos for each other to learn from. Teachers could be "flipping their classroom" with these math videos.
Flipping their Classroom?
Students watch videos at home about the concept being taught in class. When they come to class the next day the teacher can help the students that didn't understand and extend or raise the RIGOR for the students that did understand.
Check out Mathtrain.tv and try to "flip" just one lesson and see how it goes.

Many students struggle when asked to count above 1,000. During this activity teachers should ask questions that require students to read and write numbers in written and expanded forms, probe about values of digts, ten more/less or one hundred more/less, etc..
