Reading

We have started reading groups and will continue these for the rest of the year. The class is working on being independent learners during our reading stations and writing in their reading notebook. We continue to build stamina as readers.

Writing

The students will continue writing in our writing notebooks. We have been working on a variety of pages such as lists, webs, and picture writings. The class has also been working on building stamina as writers. On Thursday we will start writing a narrative about a small moment for our writing project.

Social Studies

We have started our next unit on the Missouri government. As we work on the unit I will be sending home papers for the students to study for the next unit test.

Math

We are working on traditional addition and subtraction. Please work with your children at home on addition and subtraction facts. I sent home flash cards on Friday, September 9th for the students to keep at home to practice. I also sent home a pre-test that we took for the unit which is another tool they can use to practice at home.

Homework

Weekly Reading Log: Please read with your child at night and send the reading log back to school on Mondays throughout the school year. This is not a requirement but students will receive Warrior Bucks for turning it back in on Monday.

This year at Winfield Intermediate we will not be sending homework home with students.
