CHS Weekly Update
Week 27: 3-15-2020
Well That Escalated Quickly
Each week when I start a newsletter, I start from the previous week's and looking back, I'm reminded about how quickly things can change. I hope this finds you doing well at home, safe, healthy, and relaxed. Information is changing rapidly and I would anticipate that we will be getting more updated information multiple times in the next couple of weeks from the State of Michigan. No matter what - I'm confident our CHS staff will rock this!
Other Things on My Mind...
- The building will be open tomorrow, 3-16, from 9 - 4 pm for students to get any belongings that they need. Thank you so much to all who have reached out asking for ways to help out during this time away.
- I know some of you have contacted me about how to share the resources with me that you are sharing with students. Please do not add me to your Google Classrooms. If you add me, I get an email for every single thing you put out there. Instead, if you want to send the email that you send your students or the opening message that you send about how you will interact the next 3 weeks (please include resources if they are in this communication). Please make sure to send your first communication to your students no later than Wednesday of this week.
- I feel like I say this each week, but this week has shown me once again how lucky I am to get to work with a group of people who handle any situation with grace, generosity, intelligence, care, and humor. We are going to need this for our students, our colleagues, and our selves in the coming weeks.
- The building will be open for you to get things earlier on in this break, but will be closed down as we get closer to our spring break for cleaning. Some people have asked about getting in to clean up or pack for bond work. This is fine if these are your plans. Please let me know if these are your intentions.
- Observations and evaluations may be on your mind. Don't stress - we will figure all of that out. It may look different, but it won't impact you negatively!
- I'm definitely thinking about our student's mental health and social connections during this time. It really has already altered their reality and has the potential to significantly change. If you have ideas about how we can continue to connect and support our students beyond your check-in, let me know!
- Don't hesitate to contact me if you need any support, have questions, concerns, ideas, or just want to say hi! :)
- Oh - and one last thing, I am working to catch up on emails this weekend. I had quite the surprise Saturday morning when my son showed up on my front door. This has seriously been the best weekend!
