Miss Scherer's Weekly Update
5B Humanities
Our Week (January 13th to 16th)
Students:
- created a Wildly Important Goal or WIG for Reading. Most learners decided to read for at least 20 minutes per night. They met with their Reading Accountability Buddies twice this week. They discussed what book they are currently reading and what made them choose that particular book. Afterwards, they summarized their meeting in their journals and then tracked their WIG progress on their calendar tracker. I'm excited to take this journey with them!
- continued to research the life of Christopher Columbus and his effects on the world.
- determined the mood and the theme of various texts.
- completed a Fiction Practice Test entitled "Surfer Girl."
- completed a Fiction Test entitled, "Squeak the Skater Goes Surfing."
- learned about the impact that Martin Luther King made on our world.
- started to cash in positive behavior reward tickets for prizes!
