Parent Checklist During the Illinois Assessment of Readiness
As a parent, here is how you can help:
- Talk positive about the test - encourage students to do their best.
- Some stress is normal. Think of games or performances. There are butterflies. The same can be expected with this test. This is our game after a lot of practice on the standards students will be assessed on. Everything they will be tested on has been taught and learned. Because students want to do their best, a little stress is expected.
- But too much stress is bad! Reduce any anxiety - the results of this test will not prevent students from moving on to the next grade. Again, they should do their very best. Nothing more and nothing less.
- Have your child go to bed at a reasonable time.
- Have a nice breakfast the morning of testing.
- Get students to school on time. Students can't enter a test session prior to the start of the test. If they arrive after the test begins, they have to make up their test at another time.

Registration Opens April 3 for the 2019-2020 School Year
I recommend that everyone who is returning registers as early as possible. Registering early allows us to better plan for the school year. If a grade level has high numbers, it allows us to hire a new teacher for that grade.
If you need any assistance, please contact our office after April 3.
If you moved or are moving, you may finish the school year at Sipley, however, you need to register in your home school next year.
Our district works with an agency who verifies the residency of all students. If you get a knock on your door from our agency, it is to ensure that you live within the Sipley boundaries.
