What's Important for Beta Xi & Its Sisters This Summer?
What does our Policies & Procedures Handbook say about future members?
Prospective members should have taught at least two yrs. The person should deserve professional recognition; be concerned with the profession; be interested in altruistic endeavors; make her profession better; be strong & efficient; promote high standards; strengthen the status of teaching; have specialized talents & interest; be positive, friendly, loving, enthusiastic, fair, and not too busy; be one who does what she promises; and present an image that would reflect positively on Beta Xi and each member. ONE OF YOUR SUMMER JOBS IS TO CONTACT A PROSPECTIVE MEMBER AND BRING HER TO OUR AUGUST MEETING AT GAIL'S FOR DINNER. Remember we issue her an official invitation to join after approval.

Rie Bagwell

Jerry Barber
She & Chuck will be going on an Alaskan cruise in August to celebrate their 45th anniversary.
Vickie Billhimer
She & Jim will travel to Virginia in May, Florida in July, and later Green Bay for a stockholders meeting. (Yes, Jim has stock in a prof. sports team.)
Dee Coulter
She & Robert will be working. Daughter Amy, whose husband is an Opelika policeman, just finished teaching 10 yrs at Southview. Daughter Christie will be building a house in B'ham.
Susan Hagan
Her son Kent will be moving to Philadelphia, PA, for 1 yr. of internship and 3 yrs,of residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Susan & Austin will help Kent move the first week of June.
Anne Henderson
She's planning a trip rafting down the Nantahala River with her grandson in his kayak.
Robin Horn
Her son Cody will graduate from high school in May. The family will take a couple of beach trips. Her parents will take her, her 2 sons, her sister & her 2 children on an annual trip that they call Cousins Camp. This yr.'s destination may be New Orleans.
Betty Letlow
On July 13 her son Doug will marry Kelly. This is a second time for each one. Kelly sang a solo at Louie's funeral. In Aug Betty will fly to Crested Butte, Colorado, for a week's vacation with her brother & his wife.
Pat May
She & family are in the process of surveying, perk tests, etc., to get ready for daughter Beth to build a house out by her.
Carolyn Moore
Her grandson Chase Royal will graduate from high school in May in Columbus. Daughter Jennifer will bring her children for a visit in July.
Juanita Owsley
The family will rest and relax at the lake cabin. She and Art will take the camper for a couple of trips to the beach.
Rebecca Sanderson
Making her special pottery will take a portion of her time. Before the summer's over, she will visit daughter Amy in Los Angeles.
Kay Spriggs
She will attend Fun Day in June and International in July in Salt Lake City, Utah. At home she will get new carpet for her bedrooms and anticipate the birth in Sept. of new granddaughter, Ella Cate.
Karen Stillwell
First Fun Day, then the backyard pool will offer exercise & relaxation. She'll take Colt to special needs day camp 3 days a week.They'll attend the Cockayne Syndrome Family Retreat in Atlanta. Daughter Ashley & son-in-law Olay will travel in China. After flying back to California, Ashley & Olay will be joined by Meg and drive up the Pacific coast.
Gail Swarthout
She and her 2 daughters are taking her grandchildren to the beach at Gulf Shores. She is also planning a trip to visit friends.
Jeanet Trammell
She has plans for a check-up with her doctor in Texas. While in Texas, she'll visit family, especially to see a nephew who will graduate from college this spring.
Nancy Weatherman
Daughters Dawn and Lee will take her on a 70th birthday trip to Chicago in June.
