DEAR ALLIANCE FOR JEWISH THEATRE COMMUNITY
It is so exciting to be on the cusp of our 2017 Conference in Boston. We have attracted a wide range of theatre artists from as far as Israel, England, and in North America from Vancouver, Winnipeg, Los Angeles, Florida, Washington, D.C., New York, Boston, Louisville, Chicago, Bloomington, IN, and more. All will converge on Boston on October 22-25.
For those of you that can’t make it, you will be missed. But you should know – we value all of you in our ever-growing community of Jewish theatremakers – the Alliance for Jewish Theatre community at its largest ever! Our strength is in the community we build with Jewish theatre artists, Jewish theatres, theatres throughout the world doing Jewish themes; and for all who care about what Jewish culture has to offer the world. Our vision is providing connectivity to promote the creation, presentation and preservation of both traditional and non-traditional theatrical endeavors by, for and about the Jewish experience – and we work with you accomplishing this great mission. We also want to thank our generous partners this year: Covenant Foundation, JArts Collaborative Boston, Temple Beth Zion, Central Square Theatre, Boston University Hillel, and BU's Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies.
Warmly,
Hank Kimmel, President of the Board
David Chack, Executive Director
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
LOCATIONS
Sunday and Monday are in the same general areas, Boston/Brookline at Boston University Hilllel, Hotel Boston, and Temple Beth Zion (about a 2-mile circumference) and very accessible by public transportation - the Green Lines B and C. Our first session is at BU Hillel on 213 Bay State Rd in Boston (near Fenway Park), so when you are there we will do a good orientation.
Tuesday is all day and night in Cambridge at the Central Square Theatre. It is also accessible by the public transportation but takes more time for travel transferring from the Green Line to the Red Line (towards Harvard). We will also ask people to travel together on Tuesday and some may take Uber or taxis and share to go to the Central Square Theatre. Once there, we will ask again for people to share taxis and Uber to return to hotels.
Wednesday is back to Boston University Hillel.
