Updates and Schoology
I hope that you have a relaxing and fun filled thanksgiving break. I plan to host some family members who are flying in from Virginia. I have had a wonderful semester with your children, getting to know some new faces and reconnecting with some old ones.
Three weeks ago my middle school daughter was hospitalized for a ruptured appendix, this was a big scare for our family and I was out for one week. All is better and she is back in the routine of going to school and carrying on with her daily normal life.
All learners have access to Schoology, which will function as our online classroom. I have shown them how to log on and have stressed the importance of using this virtual classroom as a tool to further their learning. You are encouraged to view our classroom so that you are connected and informed as to what the latest happenings are. It is up to your child to be self-motivated and complete assignments as the dates and deadlines approach. Since the month of December is a short one and I attend a week long conference every year called TAGT (Texas Association of Gifted and Talented) conference it is imperative that they use the Schoology as a tool to stay connected with me. This is a place where they can ask for clarification, collaborate with peers, get updates, and be informed about expectations.
Hands On Equations and Independent Studies
Each grade level will be working on an independent study. Learners were able to choose one that they were interested in. They will be working on this until February and due dates will be posted in their Schoology courses so that they are able to stay on track and pace themselves.
