Technology for Safer Driving
Coming Soon
One day people hope that cars will be able to drive themselves, but until that happens people will have to use safer technology in cars. Augmented Reality is a system that many television company's, and car company's use today. It works by superimposing a bright yellow box around potential hazards on the road. An example of augmented reality today is the yellow first down marker on the TV when your watching football.

Tests by UI Researchers
Tests were done by UI researchers to see if augmented reality really did make it safer for people to drive. Researchers gathered 20 elderly licensed drivers that went in a car simulator. Once in the simulator they drove on six, 6 mile long roads. The results were promising. Tests showed that the drivers reacted quicker to road blocks and also pedestrians crossing the road.
