Intro to Indonesia

Indonesia is a beautiful archipelago.This amazing country has over 17,500 islands. This wonderful country is hot and tropical, and great for adventures. The population is about 248,645,000. Indonesia has many religions, but most people are Muslim. Indonesia has a lot of ethnic groups, too, but most people belong to the Javanese ethnic group. This country also has a lot of different natural resources. Some of their natural resources are, gold, silver, copper, coal, and other valuables.

Indonesia - Geography and Climate

Indonesia is an archipelago with about 17,500 islands. The climate in this beautiful country is hot and tropical. They have many beautiful beaches. This country is located in Southeast Asia, between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. Indonesia is a country with mostly costal lowlands, and on the bigger islands, there are interior mountains. If you love adventures, nature, and hiking, this country is perfect for you.

Indonesia - People and Culture

Indonesia has a population made up of about 248,645,000 people. The main religion in Indonesia is Muslim with 86.1%, but there are a lot of Buddhist statues in Indonesia. Other religions include Protestant (5.7%), Roman Catholic (3%), Hindu (1.8%), and other religions (3.4%.) Indonesia has a variety of ethnic groups, but the main ethnic group in Indonesia is Javanese (40.6%.) Other ethnic groups include, Sundanese (15%), Madurese (3.3%), Minangkabav (2.7%), Betawi (2.4%) and Bugis (2.4%.)

Indonesia has a mixture of cultures from different foreign countries. They still play many traditional games, but western culture has influenced some of them. Modern sports are played internationally. Some of those sports include football (soccer), baseball, and badminton. Badminton is one of the successful sports in Indonesia. They won a gold Olympic medal for it. Indonesia is a great country for you if you love to play sports.

Indonesian dancing skills are reflected on the diversity of culture from different ethnic groups. Some of the neighboring countries like China and India have influenced dancing in Indonesia. The dances can be divided into three different eras. Those eras include, the Prehistoric Era, the Hindu/Buddhist Era, and the Era of Islam. It can also be separated into two different genres. Those genres are court dance and folk dance. Indonesia has an amazing culture, this is only a little bit about all of the exciting things about their culture.

Indonesia - Government and Citizenship

Indonesia has a republic government. If you are 17 or older you can vote. Women and men can both vote, but you have to have an ID card. If you lived in the United States of America, you would have to be 18 years or older to vote. I know if I was 17, I would want to vote.

Some of Indonesia citizen's rights include right of free expression, worship, and assembly. Citizens are allowed to petition the government. Men and Women have equal rights. If you are a foreigner, you have to be 18 years or older and have to of lived there for at least five years to become a citizen. Five years isn't a very long time.

Indonesia - Economy

Indonesia's economy is the largest in Southeast Asia. This economy is a market economy, but with some government control. The government controls the price of fuel, rice, and electricity. Indonesia businesses are investing in factories and in infest structure. Indonesia's economy is growing rapidly, which is good because it will decrease the amount of poor people in the world.

Indonesia is the world's largest tin market. Here is what Indonesia's main imports are: machinery, equipment, chemicals, fuels, and food. Here is what Indonesia's main exports are: electronics, textiles, petroleum, natural gas, nickel, timber, bauxite, copper, fertile soils, coal, gold, and silver. Indonesia is a wonderful place for mining.
