RE/MAX real estate
Office Newsletter - Week of August 5th Edition
Hey Team:
I love corn! In fact, it might be my favorite thing about August. I know, it sounds a little odd, but sometimes it's the little things that tend to matter most.
To me, every time I eat corn, it reminds of long, hot summer days and spending time with family and friends at the beach, having cook-outs and doing anything else that makes me feel like I'm truly "living."
Because good corn is seasonal, it also can symbolize our real estate world. If you evaluated your business, are you busy for only a few months or are you a great farmer who cultivates his crops throughout the year to ensure a HUGE and long-lasting harvest?
If your focus is only the pleasure of eating corn for a few months - you're missing the boat. Your focus and concentration needs to more diversified. Harvesting one crop is not enough to ensure longevity and survivability. I highly encourage you to invest in strategies and activities that will produce income throughout the year. A true farmer is busy for 12 straight months. Build your flow and marketing calendars, prospect by making calls and taking clients to lunch, get involved in charitable organizations or clubs - make a difference in your community by building strong bonds and providing value to those who know you.
I hope you enjoy the last month of unofficial summer and of course, "eat a lot of corn!"
Yours truly,
Dave

Victims, Players and Drifters. Are you a Drifter?
Are you familiar with Napoleon Hill?
He wrote one of the original books on the power of intention that is a cornerstone of much inspirational reading. Think and Grow Rich. Written in the 1930's with much encouragement from Andrew Carnegie during the peak of the Great Depression, he studied the habits of the highly successful people of the time, and he also studied the habits of the unsuccessful. If you have not read this book, it is pretty phenomenal, especially when you consider when it was written.
Have you ever heard of another book he wrote called
"Outwitting the Devil"?
This book is really quite revolutionary. So much so that although he wrote it in 1938, he asked that it not be published until after his death because it was so potentially controversial.
Today, I want to share with you one of the profound insights from this book.
Thought of the week:
Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one!
Working on Self-Accountability to Increase Profits
As a real estate professional, you likely don’t have a manager breathing down your back. The fact that agents are largely their own bosses and run their business the way they see fit is one of the most attractive aspects of the career.
Unfortunately, this is a double-edged sword. For undisciplined individuals, the inability to hit sales goals can be compounded. Here are several tips to work on self-accountability to increase profits:
Set Goals
There are many benefits to writing down your goals. Whether it’s a five-year plan or simply a to-do list for the week, seeing what you need to accomplish can help you stay on track. However, a five-year plan can be useless unless you’re focused on what you need to tackle in the week ahead. If it’s easier, break down what you need to accomplish this week into 4-5 must-do tasks for each day—you can always add more.
Keep On-Schedule
A weekly list is an excellent tool for keeping on-schedule, but you should also have other tactics to hold yourself accountable. Focus on removing distractions, like social media, from your work area and work on tackling larger projects earlier in the day. Also, reward yourself if you get through a particularly long to-do list.
Seek Feedback
As an agent, it can often fall on your shoulders to seek feedback from a manager. Even if you feel like you’re where you want to be in terms of sales, there’s always room for improvement. Don’t be afraid to ask coworkers for honest advice. And, of course, be sure you’re asking for feedback from clients regularly.
Agents, what self-accountability tactics do you employ to stay on track and increase profits?
A Trip to the Airport
Have you ever been to the airport when you didn't have a flight to catch? I'm not talking about dropping off a friend or picking up a relative. I mean visiting the airport when you don't have a ticket to fly. Probably not, I'm guessing.
Airports are not known for being relaxing. Stressful? Sure. Exciting? Often, but it depends. How late you arrive, where you're going, why you're there... all of it has an impact on your thoughts, feelings, and stress level. (Imagine a business trip, versus a funeral trip, versus an exotic vacation, for example.)
But when you're at the airport with nowhere to go, the experience is quite different. In this state, you can be an observer, detached, watching the traffic of business and pleasure pass without placing yourself in the center of the bustle. The experience can be surprisingly relaxing.
Our minds can be a lot like airports: Busy, crowded, filled with rules, full of opportunities to hurry up and wait. They're also our gateway to the rest of the world. Our thoughts, emotions, desires, and fears are like the traffic crowding the terminals, security checkpoints, and baggage claim.
Most of the time we engage our minds like a purposeful trip to the airport and find ourselves completely immersed in the anxieties, pleasures, and pains of trying to get somewhere as fast as possible.
What I would gently suggest is using this mental model as a way to help yourself find moments of clarity and stillness in your life. Take five or ten minutes every morning to approach your mind like you might a casual, go-nowhere trip to the airport. Go as an observer of your thoughts and not a fellow traveler.
Sit back and notice. Visit without stress or judgement or intent. Resist the urge to buy a ticket just yet. You might find the practice a way to experience a daily staycation.

RE/MAX Launches the booj Platform – A Custom-Built Technology Solution
The booj Platform is a fully integrated suite of products designed to make the most-productive agents in real estate also the most efficient
Less than two years after acquiring the award-winning web development and software firm booj, RE/MAX, LLC has announced the launch of the booj Platform. The custom-built platform features an integrated suite of digital products that will empower high-producing agents, teams and brokers to proactively establish, manage and grow client relationships.
Developed by booj engineers in collaboration with thousands of RE/MAX Affiliates, the booj Platform is focused on delivering a better customer experience by streamlining the work of agents, from lead generation to post-close nurturing and beyond. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is at the core of the booj Platform, deeply integrating additional features, including:
Digital Branding
RE/MAX agents, teams and offices can build and customize their own branded RE/MAX website in just minutes. Each site seamlessly integrates with social accounts and provides in-depth analytics. RE/MAX understands real estate is a local business and these sites are designed to position RE/MAX affiliates as local experts.
Lead Capture
Agents can be more strategic in their interactions with potential clients, reaching out with relevant, targeted communications thanks to insights provided by the booj Platform based on an integrated set of tools that focus on consumer engagement and enablement. Home Valuation Pages, Individual Property Websites and Market Snapshots enable RE/MAX to drive engagement with consumers.
Client Engagement
The booj Platform provides several tools to help agents stay top of mind, including The Sphere Interaction tool, which shows the latest communications with the customer and gives a visual indicator as to whether or not the agent needs to reconnect with them or not. Automation features within the platform can trigger email campaigns and other automated content based on a consumer’s actions on the site. Text, email, phone calls and marketing activity is driven back into the customer record allowing a full view of interaction and engagement.
Deal Management
The fully integrated Deal Pipeline tool provides a comprehensive view of an agent’s current transactions and potential new business. As an agent moves a deal to new milestones within the pipeline, the Task Management tool can automatically mark tasks as completed or open a list of new tasks to help the agent stay organized.
The booj Platform addresses the need for a holistic real estate technology solution as a better option to the siloed, one-off third-party solutions. With CRM at the core of this ecosystem, the booj Platform also integrates transaction management partners that are widely adopted across the industry, DocuSign, dotloop, zipLogix™ and more. By offering deep integrations with key partners, RE/MAX ensures that agents can continue using products they know and trust, while allowing data to flow back into the booj Platform to keep all their information centralized and easy to access.
“This is a milestone moment for our brand. RE/MAX agents consistently outsell other agents by more than 2-to-1 at large brokerages, and the booj Platform will only strengthen their competitive advantage,” said Adam Contos, RE/MAX CEO. “When homebuyers and sellers decide to work with a RE/MAX agent, they can rest assured that their agent comes equipped with the tools, training and technology to deliver a professional, efficient and smooth homebuying or selling experience.”
The platform is not a simple rebranding of existing solutions, but rather products built with a deep understanding of the marketplace and the unique needs of RE/MAX Affiliates.
“No one knows their business better than our brokers and agents. That’s why we’ve gathered feedback from thousands of agents along the way to ensure what we’re producing is what our network needs,” said Jerry Modes, Senior Vice President of Information Technology at RE/MAX. “We’re the original real estate disruptor and we’re built on a culture of innovation and adaptability. The launch of the booj Platform is a testament to that revolutionary culture.”
Booj co-founders, John Sable and Ido Zucker, recognized the opportunity for technology to transform the real estate business. “The highly customized platform for RE/MAX provides world-class experiences to the consumer creating a more efficient homebuying and selling process,” said Sable. “Aligning this technology with a real estate network with a global footprint was a first-of-its-kind opportunity and we’re excited to be producing leading technology during this pivotal time in the industry,” added Zucker.
A fundamental element of the booj Platform is based on feedback driving future development. “This is just the beginning. RE/MAX will continue optimizing and building on the booj Platform over time,” adds Contos. “We have an unwavering focus on winning. The goal is to remain the pack leader – keeping people engaged so that a client today, remains a client tomorrow.”
Product rollout has begun and will continue throughout the remainder of the year. Initial rollout of the platform is for U.S. Company-Owned Regions and then to participating Independent Regions and Western Canada, with plans to expand further internationally. The next phase of this rollout will include a new remax.com and consumer-facing mobile experience that will enable RE/MAX Affiliates to deliver a more data-driven and efficient homebuying experience.
