High School Highlights
Weekly Updates from Big Walnut High School
October 26, 2018
Second quarter has officially started and there is lots going on around the building. Be sure to check out some spotlights on some different classes below! We hosted our second round of parent-teacher conferences on Thursday. We were happy to see so many parents and guests in the building. If you were unable to join us, but have concerns about your son or daughter's classes, please feel free to reach out to the school counseling office or their teacher(s) directly.
On Monday, our sophomores and seniors will have a presentation from Jostens regarding class rings and graduation products. If your family is interested in either one of these opportunities, please be sure to ask your son or daughter for their information packet. Additionally, next Friday, November 2, will be our annual group picture day. HR Imaging will be here to photograph all of our clubs and organizations as well as to take our Senior Panoramic Photo and provide a last chance for seniors to have their yearbook portraits taken. For the panoramic photo, all seniors should wear a black shirt.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, school counselor or the administration if you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to contact the main office at 740-965-3766 between the hours of 7:00 and 3:15.
Oktoberfest 2018!
On Monday, German classes enjoyed celebrating Oktoberfest. Students brought in homemade German desserts, and German Club supplied brats and kraut. Some students celebrated the day with traditional German clothing, Lederhosen and Dirndel. German students worked in groups to review facts about German-American heritage, Oktoberfest and the reunification of Germany. Then they enjoyed each other’s desserts and brats!

CSI Investigation in Physical Science
This week, Mrs. Thomas', Mrs. Collins', Mr. Kent's and Mr. Smith's Physical Science classes were asked to solve the mystery of the "Five Dead Guys". Each "corpse" was a scientist that had been killed in trying to recreate their theory of the atomic model. Students used their knowledge of atoms to help solve these crimes and had lots of fun doing it!
