Welcome Back!

Greetings LTN Staff,

I hope you have enjoyed your time away this extended weekend!

Last week we spent time looking at the preliminary numbers from our school-wide MOY testing and I am proud to say that we have made gains in many areas so far this year! I am proud of all teachers who have experienced increased numbers thus far. Additionally, I would like to commend our staff for our etiquette during the state of the school address last Tuesday. We celebrated those with gains and provided equal support for those who were less successful. Thank you for creating such a safe space for us to look at numbers and their implications. Nicely done!

Black Ops Save the Day, Again!

Mrs. Bowers, Rencher, and Whiatker demonstrated their specialized capacity, flexibility, willingness to aid in our forward momentum by grinding out two critical products for LTN! First, in record time, they regrouped the entire school (adults and students) into our new Power Hour phase III model. In addition, our new RTI model (five teachers) was also established.

Second, they spent the entire Friday drudging through piles of student data points for all students K-5. As a result, our school wide data cards were born!!! Much respect and gratitude goes out to the Black Ops of LTN354!

Classroom Data Walls: Trend data 2.12.16

Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School Partnership:

Divine intervention has brought Principal, Brian Newhall, and I together! He spent approximately an hour walking the building and talking with me about our mutual interest in addressing the critical needs of our students and providing service-based opportunities for their students. We have agreed on a partnership aimed at supporting the Kindergarten students and teachers with our High Frequency word focus. Their students will be known as Sight Word Ambassadors!!!

The plan-

  • Each Wednesday, two shuttles of Our Lady of Mercy students (10 students per shuttle), will storm the Kindergarten classes. The first shuttle will arrive at 8:45 a.m. and the second will arrive at 10:30 a.m. The Sight Word Ambassadors will spend 30 minutes per session with our students. Each ambassador will spend roughly 10 minutes with 3 students addressing sight word deficits.
  • The 20 ambassadors will impact up to 60 students each week!!! This Wednesday, 2.17.16, we will host orientation sessions for both ambassador groups at 8:45 and 10:30 a.m. We are grateful for this partnership and look forward to increasing the capacity of our teachers to close Literacy gaps at LTN.

Flexible Learning Program Interventionist- Please join me in officially welcoming Mrs. Gibson to the LTN family! She will be serving our Rank I (bottom 25%) students, grades K-5, in Mathematics. Best wishes and early congratulations to Ms. Gibson.

READ, READ, READ, READ,................. READ-A-THON!!!

Page Turners Read-a-Thon Pajama Day: Friday, 2.19.16

Please stay tuned for information regarding Friday's event for our students. Mrs. Whitaker will be sending you critical information regarding the logistics of this day.

There will be many professionals visiting with us and volunteering their time to read to and with our students. Please talk with your students about what this time will look like in your classroom. Discuss protocols and procedures regarding this event. Please prepare students to ask questions about the professional responsibilities of our volunteers. Staff and students are encouraged to wear PJs during the school day.

Enjoy your day of Literacy!
