Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Maths:
Mr Horne has nominated Year 9 student Nicole N for showing a great attitude to revision and working well ahead of next week’s assessments.
Miss Harrison has nominated Year 9 students Nicole K, Emily F, Kinga K, Filip and Rares for their hard work in their revision sessions this week to prepare for their upcoming end of year tests.
Miss Kaur would like to say well done to 9C3 for a brilliant algebra revision lesson. Particularly Tara, Yagmur, Laura, Ellie and Anthony. Also nominated are 8ST for their brilliant attitude and focus during silent reading on Monday morning. Well done year 8.
Mrs Wynn has nominated Veronica in 9A2 who has shown great recall. Excellent progress was also shown by 9A2 and 9C2 in their recent FTG on percentages with many scoring full marks. Mrs Wynn would also like to congratulate 8B3 for excellent work with special a mention to Maisy, Markuss, Domonik and Jaro.
Mr Jackson would like to say well done to my Year 10 students for their excellent attitudes and professionalism in preparing for their mock examinations in Maths this week.

Miss Patrick has made the following nominations this week:
Year 7:
This week year 7 have been adding a drumbeat to their sequencing projects on Bandlab. Miss Patrick would like to celebrate 7CO for their positive attitude to learning this week. A special mention to Christian who demonstrated great focus during this task - great work!
Year 8:
Year 8 have begun composing their own ukulele chord patterns this week after learning 2 new chords. Miss Patrick would like to celebrate 8ST for their fantastic reggae skills this lesson. The whole class have mastered the skank beat on the ukulele and are able to perform this in time with the reggae backbeat - excellent work!
Year 9:
This week Miss Patrick would like to celebrate James (9CA), who has recently achieved a distinction in his grade 5 guitar exam. This is a brilliant accomplishment, which will have taken countless hours of practicing. Distinction is the highest mark you can get in these exams, so the hard work has really paid off ! Well done James!
Humanities:
Mr Goddard has nominated Year 8 who have completed very good end of year assessments, especially Witek, Leon, Bronwyn, Jorja, Christopher, Danica, Wiktoria T, Jessica R, Olivia , Kate and Alex P.
Miss Forbes has nominated 9TU for their outstanding work in PSHE this week. With the timetable change and change of teacher they took it in their stride and completed all the work to a very good level. In particular, Dawid N for doing extra research around the artefacts he found on holiday in Poland around World War Two and opening of discussions within his family over the artefact and his family history as well as the Polish resistance in World War 2.
Mr Foreman has nominated Weronika (7ST) for an excellent end of year assessment. Also nominated are Deliana, Aleksandra A and Nicole N (9ST) for excellent effort and answers Ina recent RE lesson.
Spanish:
Mrs Gonzalez Villamil-Lean has nominated Mark (7CA) for a stunning lesson on the near future tense. Also nominated is Demie (8CU) for trying to turns things around in a positive way and Year 9 students Reva and Nicole K for always being so helpful and focused.

Year 7 Computer Science:
Mrs Macleod would like to congratulate the following Year 7CA/CS1 students for their work and effort on Networks. Students have been exploring the different wireless technologies, and how bandwidth varies between these technologies. Students have discussed the mobile technologies of 3G, 4G, and 5G. Students have developed an understanding of the term ‘bandwidth.’ The following students have put a lot of effort into their work during the lesson: Ellie, Cornelia, Cameron, Aarushi, Tarell, Ethan, Max, Nadia, Cornelia, Anna, Emma, Jody, Ariana, Analeigh, Isla, Keigan, Mark, Jahari, Alfred, and Josh.
Year 8 Computer Science:
Year 8CA/CS1 students have been working hard on the introduction of using Inkscape to create vector graphics. Students have been learning about the following terms “Object” “Path” and “Node. “They have been completing tasks on their worksheets to create a particular outcome using the Inkscape software.
Year 9 Computer Science:
Year 9 students have used the software called “GIMP” to perform a range of image manipulation functions and complete specific tasks and challenges. The following student have worked well and put effort into getting their work completed to a good standard: Jude, Jayden, Emily, Losif, Olivia, Daniel, Lily-Mae, Bartosz, Junior, Tyler, Ivan, Aleksandra, Ryan, Joanna, Tymoteusz, Gurkirat, Ruby, Tia, Antonio, Ugne, Leyton, Nikola, Mateus, Vanessa, Lubo, Oliwia, Jasmine, Sian, Veronica, Millar, Peter, Katrina, George, Kyle
Year 10 Computer Science:
Year 10D/CS1 students have completed a Mock Exam in Computer Science this week. Hopefully, their revision will provide them with good results. The following students have taken part in the Computer Science Mocks: Robert, Mariyah, Joprince, Kacper, Joshua, Max, Rhys, Patriskas, Joshua, Dominika, Arina, Cole, Freddie, Dominik, Benjamin, Mihai, Marian, Stas, Zhivko, Harrison, Daniel, Toby, Tyler, Shane, Oliver and Linards.
PE:
Mr Clamp has nominated Rylee E in Year 8 for a fantastic lesson in PE, with outstanding focus on the tasks and communication skills. Also nominated is
Thomas L in Year 10 for leading by example in the Australian Rules Football lesson.Science:
Mr Godfrey has nominated Year 12 students Sai, Seth, Oskar and Chad for their improved performance in the recent mock.
Mr Anglim would like say well done to 10AP1 and 10 AP2 science classes for putting a lot of effort into revising for and completing all three of their science mocks.
Miss Kritzinger has nominated Adam (7TE) for his fantastic scientific contribution in science. Also nominated are Ellie, Megan and Alicja for some lovely pieces of science work in their workbooks.
Mr Abnett has nominated Year 12 Chemistry students. They recently completed their mock exams and have done excellently.
English:
Mr Toye has nominated 8AY; they are maturely responding to some really thought-provoking topics, crafting considered and comprehensive speeches. Mr Toye can't wait to see the results!
Miss Lodge has nominated Year 10 Media Studies students for fantastic progress with their coursework. Mrs Morris and Miss Lodge are really impressed with their work so far and especially their attention to detail. Keep up the good work! Also, well done to 10B1 English for completing their first English mock exam last week. All of the students have worked extremely hard and Miss Lodge is looking forward to marking their work and celebrating their progress with them.
Mrs Brown would like to thank 8BY this last week. You've worked brilliantly for English since she started teaching you. Keep it going! A shout out to Jack M for great reading, to Liberty and Jessica for an excellent start on the speech project and to Ronan, Ellie, Daisy, Nicola, Josh, Sophie, Ella for completing some fantastic work on our Power and Protest unit.
County Schools Challenge 2023
This week, a group of Year 8 students attended the semi final of the County Schools Challenge. The theme this year was arson, and the students designed and made a card game. The students showcased their idea to a panel of judges at a ‘Dragons Den’ style pitch. The student’s performance was outstanding. As well as presenting their ideas to a panel of judges, students took part in interactive events and had tours of key aspects of Northamptonshire Police, which included the Control Room. We are delighted to share the students have made it to the grand final!
Emila - Year 8
On the 20th of May 2023 at Litman Archers Junior shoot, held in Sunningdale, Emilia was named Junior Ladies (U14) Barebow Champion. Last week at EMAS vs WMAS FITA Star (Regional shoot between East Midlands vs West Midlands) held in Bothasall, Emilia won the Barebow Junior Women's Champion personal trophy and a gold medal. What a fantastic achievement Emilia, well done from everyone at CTS!
Emilia will also participate Junior National Outdoor Archery Championship 2023 at the end of this month.
Corby and District Lions Club are holding a Family Fun Day at East Carlton Countryside Park, LE16 8YF from 11.00am to 4.00pm, on Sunday 25th June. Please pop along and "have a go" at archery.
Year 10 Food Tech:
Year 10 Food did an AMAZING job in their practical mock – Mrs Firmin was really impressed with them, as was our technician Mrs Horvath. They all successfully made a dough, including some fresh pasta from Esosa and Stan. We had a variety of dishes, from Spaghetti Bolognese, to Calzone, Stuffed Chicken and Coffee Puff Pastry. Everyone in the class did exceedingly well, showing a great level of independence and technical skill.
Year 7 DT
Mr McCrory would like to say well done to his Year 7 group who have made a great selection of cars with even some innovative rocket ships still making use of the same material.
