For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

The Busyness of the Christmas Season

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season...how many times have we fallen victim to this sentiment? Everyone is so busy going from this Christmas performance to that party and from decorating to shopping; the busyness of this time of year seems to never end. When someone asks how we are doing, our answer often looks something like this, "Doing great! Just busy!" It's almost as if it is a badge of honor to be so busy. The Christmas season only seems to exacerbate this issue.

While some of the Christmas events and traditions are very necessary, I would encourage you all to consider fighting the urge to stay so busy that you miss the opportunity to enjoy this time with your family, to give to someone who may be in need, or to just rest in the blessings that God has given you. As I write all of this, please know that I am looking in the mirror reminding myself of the exact same thing. At this time of year, let us all embrace the reminder in Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." As we remember the real reason for this Christmas season, let us rest in our worship of Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

I'm praying that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas season!
