Principal's Message
June 5, 2020
We are in the midst of tremendously important undertakings as a school, a community, and a nation. The need to confront racism - structural, systemic, and on a personal level - must also happen in our schools. Please know that we will continue to be on the side of equity, diversity, and inclusion and will commit to growing in our own understanding and capacity for this important work.
Coupled with issues of race and social justice, our students are faced with the uncertainty of the world they will enter post-pandemic. As I shared with our staff this week, I want to share with you my belief that:
Our students are trying to make sense out of our current world (while also navigating the normal challenges of their middle school years!). With our help, I believe their generation will emerge better equipped to make a change - medically, environmentally, and socially. But to help our students we will all need to wrestle with the complexity of these times. We will need to celebrate the freedom of expression while condemning violence. We will need to find creative ways for schools to maintain connection and interaction while following new medical guidance. We will need to navigate through the onslaught of media and politics in search of understanding. We will need to be personally reflective and willing to learn from others.
I look forward to continuing this journey as a Willink and a Webster community.
In light of these important challenges we are faced with, I know many of you are also trying to manage the end-of-year school events that are taking place - often in several buildings at once! Thank you for your continued feedback and patience as we work through this together. Up next for our students is locker clean-out which takes place next week. I am including the information and sign up genius for each house in case you missed it. If you have already signed up - you are all set, nothing more to do.

If you missed yearbook pickup or would like to purchase one, please call the main office and we will schedule a time to make this happen.
And, finally, I can’t express how important it is for our community to vote in Tuesday’s election. On top of all that is going on and everything we are balancing right now, thank you for taking the time to express your informed decision. The results will have significant impacts on all of our children.
Stay safe and healthy this weekend!
Respectfully,
Brian
