Please Help Prevent Drop-Off Delays
In an effort to make the drop-off line in the mornings run more smoothly, please have your child ready to get out as soon as you pull up to the numbered drop-off points. When you come to the numbered spots, pull all the way to the end of the sidewalk and fill in each spot. To make the line move more quickly, please have your child put on their backpack, unbuckle and give good-bye kisses when you come around the corner, so they are ready when you get to the numbered spots.
You may also encourage your child to cross over and walk into the building on the green line and stay away from the red line after they exit the car. This is a visual reminder for students to move away from the cars to ensure their safety.
Breakfast of Champions!
Our amazing cafeteria staff prepares a delicious breakfast for our students every morning. Breakfast is available from 7:30-8:00 each morning. If your child plans to eat, please try to have him/her at school before 7:55, so they have ample time to eat without being late to class.
Make The Most of Your Messages
Please set up your voicemail if you haven't already. It can be overlooked, but makes it difficult for us to reach you. When staff needs to contact you about your child, often they are unable to leave a message if your voicemail isn't set up. In the case of an emergency, we may need to get in touch with you.
Social Media Awareness
The end of the day dismissal line can get pretty hectic at times. While we try very hard to get all of the students into their cars quickly each day, we are concerned about safety during this time. There are several vehicles blocking the parking lots and even the highway at times. Please don't arrive for car rider dismissal until 2:55. If you want to avoid the car rider line being crowded, come through between 3:15-3:20. At that time, there are very few cars in line. We appreciate your cooperation with this and your patience as we improve our system and make it as safe and efficient as possible for your children.
We've all heard it..."Stranger Danger," but can the safety and security of our school be at risk if we don't make sure that we all help? We realize that the safety of our students is our top priority. All visitors need to go through the office, no matter the time of day. If you notice someone picking a child up, please direct them to the office and do not invite them into our school through alternate doors. The safety of our students is important and we appreciate your help.
We take many pictures at Vienna-Finley. We use those pictures to celebrate all of the amazing experiences your child is having at school. We will promote these activities on the school website, on the schools' Facebook page, in the Giveaway, Good News Chronicle and the Vienna- Finley Voice Newsletter. If you do NOT want your child's photos included in these promotions, you must provide your request in writing to Mrs. Barrett as soon as possible.
Let's Get Connected...
Follow us on Facebook @Vienna-Finley Elementary School or on Twitter through the hashtag #VFES. We love to send home communication, newsletters and reminders often via email. Please call the office and have Mrs. Graves add your email address to your Harmony account, if you haven't already. If you do not have an email address and would like help setting one up, we would be more than happy to assist you. Many people have email on their smart phones and that works great for home/school communication too! Just let us know how we can help. We would love to share the great things happening at VFES with you!

Let's Talk Safety!
All morning car riders should be dropped off on the west side of the building by the doors that lead into the gymnasium. Our doors open at 7:30 A.M. Students should not be dropped off in front of the building. At the end of the day all car riders should be picked up on the west side of the building. Please do not come into the office at the end of the day unless you are signing your student out early for an appointment or if you have made prior arrangements with the office. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our students safe.

Back to School Fun!
Students and staff returned to school on August 10th at Vienna-Finley Elementary School in Scott County School District 2. They didn't let the summer heat get them down though. They were eager to return and get to spend some time with their friends, play outside, and lave fun learning!

Teachers Have Fun Too!
During a special "Teacher Retreat," the teachers at Vienna-Finley had a break from all of their hard work to relax and play games. Pictured are second grade teacher, Ms. Taylor, fourth grade teacher, Ms. Miller, and first grade teachers Mrs. Schaeffer and Ms. Carr playing Life-Sized Yatzee.
Human Hungry, Hungry Hippo!
What do teachers do on the last few days of summer before school begins? They get together and work hard to create lesson plans, plan for the year, and develop curriculum to make it the very best for their students! What else do they do? Well, they take a fun break and play Human Hungry, Hungry Hippo! The teachers at Vienna-Finley were no exception on August 8th when they played this game and had a ball! Pictured are teammates Lori Smith (fourth grade teacher) and Patty Clancy (fifth grade teacher) as they collect balls during Human Hungry, Hungry Hippo to win the game!
