DFES - "Where Wonders Grow"

We are in the process of modifying our dismissal procedures. We have made tremendous strides reducing the wait time for parents in the car rider line. As a result we have a few more challenges that we are seeking to conquer.

We have noticed and observed that there is major congestion in the hallways during dismissal and are seeking to alleviate this. As a result beginning Monday, March 17 we will adhere to the following dismissal schedule beginning at 2:30 p.m.:

  • 3, 4, 5 cars
  • K, 1, 2 cars
  • K, 1, 2 buses
  • 3, 4, 5 buses
  • K, 1, 2 daycares
  • 3, 4, 5 daycares

We ask for your patience as we seek to improve this process.

PASS Writing

PASS writing begins Tuesday, March 18, for our 3rd-5th grade students. With our school's inquiry into writing and use of Lucy Calkins Units of Study this year we are expecting growth of our students as writers.

Two additional items to consider for testing:

  • We will adhere to the schedule sent by S. Beckman last week. Related areas will begin only once an announcement is made.
  • We would like to ensure that all students (especially 3rd-5th) eat breakfast during this week. Please any students that may have missed breakfast at home or school send them to the cafeteria following announcements and we will get them squared away.

March 18

We will meet with all certified staff at 3:15 that are not on any district leadership teams. Certified staff please refer to the email I sent last week regarding the purpose for Tuesday. Our goal is for this to be a relatively short time together.
