Spokane Owls Athletic Department
From The Desk of the Athletic Director
As October comes to a close, it is time to gear up for winter athletic season. For those new to the district, Spokane only has basketball as a MSHSAA sanctioned sport during the winter.
I want to bring your attention one of my favorite motivational speeches. Dr. Rick Rigsby is an excellent speaker with a past that most of us would not survive. In this speech, Dr. Rigsby states a few points about life and success, don't judge people and be kind to people are wonderful words of wisdom. However, one of his last points really brings it home for the upcoming athletic season at Spokane. This point is, "Do a job and do it right." When you step foot into the gym this basketball season, be ready to do the job and do it right. Your coaches don't expect perfection. In fact, we want you to fail. We want you to experience what it means to have to fail forward and recover from mistakes you have made. Those who are the best began at good enough and realized they weren't the best, yet. Dr. Rigsby states, "Good enough isn't good enough if it can be better; better can't be good enough if it can be best." Do you have it in you to work to be the best?
Below, you will find practice schedules for the first month of practice for High school boys and girls basketball. If you have any questions about the upcoming seasons, please feel free to reach out by phone, email, or stop in to say hi.
Go Owls!
