School Newsletter — March 11th, 2020

Note from the Principal

Dear Hazeldale Families,

We hope that last week helped re-energize your family for carving out reading time at home with our all school celebration of Read Across America Week. There were several resources I included in last week's newsletter. Additionally, in a meeting with some teacher leaders after school today we were talking about how lovely the library is in downtown Beaverton. It could be a fun weekly trip for you and your family over the summer. There is a fountain to play in during summer and farmers' markets! (Address: 12375 SW 5th St., Beaverton, OR 97005). Need something closer? Don't forget the Aloha Community Library just down the road. Check it out over Spring Break!

Our PTO is helping you kick off rehearsing for that summer reading as the Spring Fundraiser is a READ-A-THON! Information will come home in your child's yellow Wednesday folder on March 18th to begin practicing (reading!) and getting ready to gather pledges. Remember, these short breaks from school are dress rehearsals for the long summer break where it is especially critical to read as much as humanly possible!

Hazeldale's Learner Profile Attribute for March is on being Open Minded.

Open-Minded: We critically appreciate our own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. We seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and we are willing to grow from the experience.

Kinder Registration Has Begun—Register Now!

Kindergarten registration for Fall, 2020, is open! Students must be five years of age on or before September 1st, per State Statute, and live within the attendance boundary of our school. We invite you to register early as this assists us in confirming enrollment for staffing purposes.

New student registrations can be completed online. Go to the Beaverton School District Website/Enrolling Your Child (under quick links at the bottom of the main page). Be sure to register for the 2020-2021 School year.

Upon enrolling you will either need to upload or bring in to be copied the following in order to make your child’s registration complete:

  • completed student enrollment form (if not completed online)
  • certificate of immunization
  • birth certificate (we will make a copy of your original)
  • migrant questionnaire
  • proof of address

You will receive more information at Hazeldale’s Kindergarten Orientation, scheduled for Wednesday, April 29th from 5:00-6:30 pm. Please bring your kindergarten child with you to the orientation. Feel free to share this information with your neighbors who have their first child starting kindergarten next fall.

The office staff is happy to help you with registration and to answer any questions.
