Learning Model Options for Families
Antelope Valley Union High School District staff have been working within and across departments, as well as with the Antelope Valley Teachers Association (AVTA) and California Schools Employees Association (CSEA) to develop plans to safely and effectively begin the new school year.
The AVUHSD Instructional Model Committee, in alignment with the feedback we received from staff and families through surveys, have developed learning models that reflect the guidance from the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH). The learning models present two options: At-School Learning and At-Home Learning. Characteristics of each model are provided below:
Please note, students participating in the “At-School Learning” Model will be required to maintain physical distancing and wear a face covering at all times.
Next week a form will be available for families on our website, social media, and the AVUHSD app giving families the ability to select the model that will best meet the needs of your family at the start of the new school year on August 10. If you plan for your student to participate in the “At-School Learning” Model, you do not need to complete this form. ONLY families choosing a program within the “At-Home Learning” model need to indicate that selection no later than July 17, 2020. Our staff will then reach out to those families to complete the enrollment process for those options.
Students attending SOAR High School or an Alternative Education High School will receive information from your school leadership soon regarding plans for the upcoming fall term.
