News For & About Raymore Elementary & Early Childhood

Happy November, Raymore Families!

Dear Raymore and Early Childhood families,

It's hard to believe our second quarter is already well under way. What a wonderful gift it continues to be to work with your children this year as they build positive leadership skills and celebrate progress toward learning goals that our teachers are committed to helping them develop and reach. Thank you for partnering with us each day and particularly at our recent Parent-Teacher Conferences. A huge THANK YOU goes to all of you for your feedback on our school survey about successes and next steps to help our strive to be the best we can be!

There have been many exciting events recently and attendance has been tremendous: From our Read-A-Thon participation, to McTeacher night, to our first annual Tiger Trail 5K. What special opportunities to come together as a school family! Coming up on November 22, we hope all of you are able to join us for our Thanksgiving Luncheon. See special lunch times below.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support each and every day as together we help your child develop a love of learning. As always, please feel free to call me if you ever have a concern or question. I am happy to help.

I wish each of you in our school community a wonderful November! Here comes winter!

Michelle Hofmann, Principal

Nov. 22 is our Thanksgiving Luncheon!

We hope you can join us to celebrate the holiday with a wonderful meal at our school!

  • RSVPs are required to eat so our cafe staff can prepare sufficient food for all; anyone may join as company! Call our office with questions.
  • Special lunch times are planned to accommodate to enjoy our meals together (see below).
  • Kids need to eat with their own lunch shift to ensure sufficient seating and our cafe team can prepare food/pace to keep us on schedule and fed. We expect nearly 1000 people on site that day!
  • We hope you join us for the book fair immediately before/after.
  • Please remember/remind guests to have a Driver's License ready upon check-in to ensure the safety and peace of mind.
Thank you & we look forward to celebrating with you!

C.A.N. needs your help! So does our Mayor!

During our Thanksgiving lunch this Friday there will be donation bins for the district's C.A.N. program. As we all count our blessings and partake in our Thanksgiving meals with our child(ren), please think of those in need. If you are able to give, these are the items that we will be collecting at Raymore Elementary School:
**Jars of Peanut Butter
**Small plastic bottles of Jelly
**Small plastic bottles of Ranch Dressing
**Packages of baby carrots

Bring one, bring a package, just what you can.

Want to see what else we provide? Visit our weekly menu site and donate anything on it! http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090E48ABAC2FAA8-caring

Also this year, the Ray-Pec district is, again, supporting the Mayor's Food drive benefiting Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry. Soon, you will notice barrels in our school lobbies for your donations. These barrels will help serve as a visual for the students to see the impact they have from their contributions as they help others. Links and more details to come!

Don't miss out! Spiritwear orders due Fri, Nov. 22!

Orders will be here by Christmas! A table will be set up at the Thanksgiving Lunch on Nov. 22. View the order form below. http://raymoreelementarypta.weebly.com/uploads/1/1/5/5/11557295/2013-2014_spirit_wear_order_form.pdf

Sunny D labels = Free Books for Teachers!

Sunny D is currently running a {Sunny D Book Spree} promotion and PTA wants to help our teachers get this deal! For 20 labels teachers can get 20 books!!

We are asking families to "sponsor" a class either by 1- purchasing a 24 pack of Sunny D from Sam's Club. (We've researched to be sure these UPC's qualify, not all do, that's why we are specifying Sam's Club 24 packs only.) Just deliver your drinks by next Friday as requested, and PTA will take care of clipping labels and having drinks ready for party time! Or 2- by donating $7.00 to a teacher and PTA will purchase the Sunny D. Visit our PTA webpate at http://raymoreelementarypta.weebly.com/ for more information!

Would You Like to View Your Child's 2013-2014 Progress?

Our teachers regularly gather information about what your child knows and is able to do so they can identify gaps in learning progress and provide engaging opportunities to challenge them. On October 18th, all parents in Ray-Pec will be receiving a letter indicating various assessments that are used throughout our district. The great news is that at anytime you have access to many of those scores yourself through our School Information System (SIS). For assessment information, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Raymore-Peculiar School District website at the following web address: http://www.raypec.k12.mo.us/
  2. Look on the left side of the page and find "Quick Links".
  3. Click on "Parent Portal (SIS)"
  4. Click on the "Parents" tab and type in your user name and password.
  5. If you do not have a user name and password, contact the school secretary for assistance.
  6. Log in to SIS.
  7. Once you have entered your user name and password, look to the left hand side of the screen and click on "Assessments".
  8. Depending on the grade level, there are different assessments available.
  9. Contact your child's classroom teacher if you have questions.

Friendly School Reminders & Opportunities

  • As a safety precaution, we continue to practice regular drills/procedures through out each year in classrooms and as a school for a variety of emergencies including fire/evacuation, tornado/shelter, shelter in place, and lock down.
  • I.D.: Please be prepared to show ID anytime you are visiting our school or picking up a child. If we do not recognize you (and we try hard!), this measure ensures your child's safety and that of our school. Thank you for your support.
  • Early Childhood sessions M, T, Th, F are 8-11 & 11:45-2:45.
  • Elementary Student Arrival begins at 8:20 AM. Tardy bell is 8:45 AM. Dismissal begins at 3:45.
  • For security of all kids, please be prepared to present your driver's license at the front desk. All visitors are also required to sign in and receive a visitor's sticker to be worn visibly at all times. Please be sure to sign out before leaving.
  • All cars join our north car rider line. Please remain in vehicles and ensure your child enters on the curbside of the car.
  • All students who walk/bike to school on their own should wait for Mrs. Wratney our crossing guard for assistance to cross Madison or our parking lot.
  • "Grab & Go" Breakfast is available for purchase by ALL kids & they enjoy in class as they begin their day. Hot breakfast is from 8:20-8:35 in the cafe.
  • Sunday afternoon "SchoolMessenger" voice messages from me should be arriving to update you with highlights for the week. If you are not receiving those, please login to SIS Parent Portal to change your contact settings or simply contact our school office at 892-1925.
