Conference Sign Up on Skyward Family Access

At this time Davida has set up our conferences in Skyward Family Access. Parents will be able to begin to sign up for time slots starting Friday, October 2nd in the morning. Information was sent to all teachers about this. If you wish to schedule five minute time slots between your conference, you may. You will have to do this on your own before Friday. Directions on how to do this were sent to you via email. Parents will be given this information too and will be given directions.

You can continually check in our your conference sign up in Skyward, now through November 12th. This is new for everyone this year and I appreciate your help and patience with this as we embrace this new process. Please view the tutorials that were also sent to you. They are very worthwhile and short.

Picture Day is Friday

Please remember Friday, October 2nd is Picture Day. A schedule has been put together and pictures will be taken of all students and staff on Friday. Pictures will take place in the Media Center and on the stage. We will be sending the final schedule and locations to each of you this week before Friday. Please remind parents about this in your communications. Parents should order picture packages ONLINE. They have been given directions for this. Please encourage them to do so.

PLC Planning

All teachers were sent a PLC Planning Form via email. Please meet with your colleagues to plan and prepare for your PLC work this year. I will need one person to complete the form and send to me electronically so I may enter the information into KALPA.

Remember that you are responsible for 7 PLC hours to meet with your team. Please be specific and describe the work that you will be doing at each of your PLC meeting times together. Please have this form completed by October 1st-this Thursday. I will enter information into KALPA after receiving your dates and descriptions.

2 PLC hours will be our Inquiry Project Sharing Session in May. If you have not done so already, please complete the Google survey indicating your choice of a May date. Thank you if you have already taken care of this important task.

Dismissal Reminder

Please do not dismiss any students until they are dismissed over the PA system. There are a handful of students leaving classrooms before their scheduled time to leave. This really causes disruption with our tiered dismissal system. Thank you for watching for students leaving early.

PTA Outdoor Movie Night

Please join me with our Dublin families for Outdoor Movie Night Friday, October 2nd from 7:30-9:00 PM on the playground. This is a fun evening and the PTA would love to see staff attend. The movie being shown is Big Hero 6. Hope to see you there!

Please remember to PRE-REGISTER for all professional development learning sessions this year. Log in to KALPA, find your course, and pre-register. PLC teams should get me their dates and information asap so I can enter these events in KALPA. If you have any courses you wish me to load into KALPA, I can do this easily for you. Thank you for being on top of this new process this year. It will really save everyone time and worry at the end of the year and when it comes time for recertification.

I-Ready Diagnostic

Please remember that all grades will be giving the I-Ready Diagnostic this year. Kindergarten should plan to give the diagnostic twice, and all other grade three times. Kindergarten should plan to give the diagnostic sometime in Nov-Dec. and then again toward the end of the school year. You may use the Chrome books to do this or the computer lab. Please let me know if you have questions about this. All grades, except kindergarten should have the first round of I-ready completed by the end of October.

Specific directions about new students, log in information, etc. were emailed to all teachers. Please review the email sent about this. If you have any questions regarding iReady, please let me know.

Cookie Dough and Entertainment Book Fundraiser

Thank you for continuing to publicize and encourage families to purchase items from our PTA fundraiser. If you have any questions regarding the fundraiser, please see your PTA roster of parents in your Staff Handbook for phone numbers and email addresses. Please remind students to sell to friends and family. Students should have turned in their yellow permission slip on Friday last week. If they do this on Monday, please return them to the office in the morning. The PTA folks will be coming around sometime Tuesday this week to distribute the paws that students earned for turning in at least 5 orders already. The sale continues through Friday, October 2nd this week. . Please click HERE for full details on our PTA web page including all directions, extra brochures for parents and order forms.

Have you joined the PTA yet?

If you have not done so already, please join the PTA at Dublin! They really do a lot of wonderful things for all students and teachers, and could use your support too. Please see the membership forms that were handed out at our staff meeting or ask for membership information from the office. You can also click HERE for a membership form that is always located on our PTA web page. We are looking to have 100% staff participation once again this school year. Thank you for supporting our PTA.

Lockdown Practice #2 this Week

We had a successful Shelter in Place Lockdown Drill last week. We will practice a full Lockdown Drill this week on Wednesday between 10-10:30 AM. In a full lockdown, classroom activity ceases, lights are out, and the class is placed in the classroom out of sight of door windows. An announcement will come on when this drill is taking place, and also at the end of the drill. Soon we will have our new lockdown announcements for use with our new PA system. Please review these directions in your red Crisis Manual in your classroom before Wednesday. If you have questions, please let us know in the office.

Safari Montage

SAFARI Montage provides K-12 school districts with a fully integrated Digital Learning Platform, including a Learning Object Repository, Video Streaming Library, and IPTV & Live Media Streaming, designed to handle video efficiently. The digital content works seamlessly in a Bring Your Own Device environment. Walled Lake teachers should begin to explore Safari Montage now.

See the written directions for instructions for logging on to the system and accessing a short series of tutorials (called a playlist). This playlist will demonstrate how to search for relevant content and create & organize playlists. Click HERE for more information.

SIPP Meetings Begin Next Week

Our SIPP meetings with teachers will begin next week on Thursday, October 1st. We will be meeting with fifth grade staff on October 1st. New update forms will be coming your way sometime this week to complete for these meetings. Please see the SIPP schedule for times and dates. I will re-send the schedule this week.

PTA Skate Night

Our first PTA Skate Night takes place on Tuesday night, September 29th from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Rolladium in Waterford. Please remind students and parents in your communications. It would also be great to have staff attend a skate night sometime this year!

Community Education Classes
